Default Sanity check - 2001/2002 1.8 swap into a 1993

This is roughly the same as a 1999/2000 would be, except for i need to either disable or control vvt, correct?

Sorry, just haven't thought about miata stuff in a little too long and am slightly out of touch.

I couldn't think of a reason, but that doesn't mean there isn't one... hence my question and warning that it's a sanity check.

let the flogging commence?

You'll need to run some wires for the sequential fuel too, but you are on the right track.

I have just done a 2001 engine swap into a 1990 mx5. But i swapped everything including the whole wiring loom, interior, etc. There are some things that need to be done, but the hardest was wiring the pop up headlights.

why? just use a 1.6 engine harness. The 1.8 engine harness won't match the main harness anyways. Injectors have identical connectors.

But yeah, it's the same. If not running on stock ECU, get the NB throttle body and throttle cable as well. Otherwise you need the throttle body adapter and all that junk.

I've done 5 of these swaps. You run 2 extra wires for sequential fuel and 1 extra wire for VVT. Easy peasy.
