Did you read this? It's the first thing that pops up when you type "miata toyota cop". Should answer everything. Some use capacitors, some don't. If you have one, it wouldn't hurt, if you don't it's probably fine.
Yes, cap goes in the coil pack loom, not sure where else it'd go.

If you have it, wire the capacitor in, if you don't, don't worry about it. I don't have a capacitor in mine, and it's been running fine.

there are/were plenty of people running them on stock ECUs without any negative effects.
There was only an issue with NB setups, but it wasn't that they would blow, they simply wouldn't fire.
@rleete just did it--after a bunch of naysayers said not to--and it's been fine.
