So, for those of us who have never used either, how does this affect your ability to communicate with the other players in the game- the ones who aren't on your skype/vent chat?
And how do you handle situations where the server has forced you onto opposing teams? Do you just camp until a slot frees up and you can switch back over to the same team? Seems like it'd be a Bad Thing to be broadcasting tactical information to members of the opposing team, even if they are your friends.

I was doing suicide runs to kill Cave[MT] last night. It was entertaining.

So far not much tactical info has been said on vent, its used more for taunting and BSing. When auto-switching happens, I pretty much just roll with it. The guy that has been dominating you, eventually ends up giving you health after you or he is switched.

I am trying to convince rick to let me set up a tf2 server on one of his servers. It would be awesome to have our own place where we can make it so we are not auto team switched.

Yeah, in vent (if you set it up right), it's push to talk like TF2. In Skype, the mic is always hot, and as a result sux0rs for this sort of thing.
Joe, I, and one other MT guy ended up in a 2v2. It wasn't much fun.
Engineers ruled all but spy, and spy would have ruled engineer if I hadn't had sucked so hard at it. The idea sounds great, but we need teh players :(.

But then you guys figured out the spy trick, and we started having to spend all our time on sapper patrol. That game would have stalemated if we'd stayed in it.
How the hell did we wind up on that server, anyway?

Joe, it was one of those gay servers that broadcasts that it has 20/24 slots filled... even though in reality it was empty. and once you joined, I figured we would roll with it for a moment. To give you an idea, when I talk on vent I hold shift, and I hold Q to talk in game. it works flawlessly for me. and obviously you can use any combination of keys that fits yourself best. Also, you can set the mic as always hot if you want to.
99mx5 your lemmiwinks, right? I always get confused between steam names and profiles here.
I will never let you live that down. >.>
Do it!!!

Oh man, you don't ever want to be running the same guild/clan tags as me and be in the opposing team.
For me, that's a big giant target that I need to get while ignoring all else. Even if I do nothing but die in trying to get that target. Killing me isn't really an effective way to dissuade me from doing that, as dying horribly just makes me laugh as you heard last night.

I haven't really played much since steam got achievements and they added all of the pickup items/hats to TF2, so now that the game has changed so much I decided to reset my stats last night since I'm getting back into it. Plus no one took stats seriously back then.
Does anyone else remember the game from it's original form before all the extra stuff or did most of you come along after the F2P deal?
