Due to toddler and work hours, this past year I've had very little time to:
  • work on the car
  • drive the car except to/from work
  • track days? hahahaha no
  • sleep
I realized a while ago that realistically I won't be able to mod cars with any sort of seriousness for probably another 10-15 years. Wife doesn't like the car anyway and pretty much feels any time I spend working on it or driving it could be spent helping with the baby. Which is true and I pretty much knew this going into the whole family making process.

Any idea how much to sell the XIDAs for? They've got a few hundred street miles on them. I'd leave them in, but I'm not sure it adds to the money I'll get for the car.

Wife doesn't want me storing the car, I tried that approach and she wants to use the garage slot for parking both the daily drivers.
I think "storage" in the context of this thread means out of sight. Rent a 10x15 storage unit for $50 a month and stick that ****** in there. What you save in registration and insurance costs will easily pay for the unit.

Out of sight, out of mind, and will let you both focus on communicating better and raising the kid. As stated, doesn't really seem like the car is actually the issue. But getting it far out of the way will go a long way towards forgetting about it and prevent focusing on it.

Do those two things, plus marriage counseling, and you should be in good shape.

Update, we resolved our differences. We agreed that we will get a three car garage when we buy our next house. She also wants me to tidy up the garage a bit.

No, I've been buying her purses for years. That's how I got xidas in the first place. This time I think that we just managed to get to the root of what was bothering her. Putting the kid in day care last month also helped relieve some stress.

I've pulled this move a few times with my wife. 60% of the time it works every time.

I make it clear that it's important to me to be able to do sometimes, but I also really try to make sure it's a very low priority, so that my wife stays happy. Having kids sure takes a lot of time and energy, so it's hard to fit other things in after work and kid time. Like spending 1-1 time with your wife and making sure she knows she is loved and appreciated.

If you get way out of balance, then you end up where you are now. Maybe that means doing marriage counseling, and maybe it means selling your car. You can start over with a new car in a couple years. Just hang on to those xidas so you are ready. Maybe pull the engine and keep it in the garage for the next car, and scrap the one you have. When you start over it could be a clean title car.
This is very poignant and probably because my wife got mad at me last weekend for spending 2 hours chasing down an idle issue on my MSM. We had a whole convo about how much time I spend working on the car (hint - it's a lot) and how i need to adjust priorities. Realized i should have the same approach you have.

I also sent her off to get a mani and pedi. They love that ****.

Mani-pedi is to a woman what a ******* is to a dude.

And by that I mean it's what many people often pay strange Asian women to do.

Glad to see it all worked out for you. You should definitely do a huge, permanent tire marking burnout in the driveway.

Strongly seconded. You see this stupid purple trapper keeper thing? It basically made the toy next to it disappear in my wife's eyes.
