It occurs to me that most of the people who routinely cast aspersions upon [California / NYC] have never actually lived in [California / NYC]. It's kind of like people who, in January / February, think that Florida seems nice, without having actually been there.
There is a reason why so many people choose to live in these places.
Yes, the government is annoying. But the fringe benefits...
As for Chicago, well, I'll just freely admit that if a better job opportunity came along I wouldn't be here.
