Default anyone have front license plate bracket pics v.turbo

Apparently south Texas popo really likes to ticket miatas here for front plate garbage. Has anyone made a bracket to position the plate to the side, so it doesn't interfere with the intercooler airflow? Apparently putting it in the windshield doesn't work 'round these here parts.

I thought Braineak had a write up about one in his FAQ, I remember seeing it a long time ago...

Yeah, I'm going to have to deal with the same crap when I get my car on the road again. I don't have to worry about the intercooler, but I still have worry about the radiator flow. I'm going to see what other people are doing as well so that i can get some ideas.

I could do like Bryce and just drive around with to front plate at all. AFAIK he hasn't gotten a ticket for it, but he has gotten all the other popular tickets. I think I have been with him a majority of the times he has gotten them too. He doesn't like me to ride with him anymore.

I got one of the ones that swings out of the way at speed, and drive through areas where every one says no front plate gets you a ticket, and I have yet to have anyone say anything about it.

go to home depot and buy an L shaped bracket (they have several sizes). Bend one side down and secure to tow hook with a bolt nut and washers. Or spend 40 bucks and get this:

I don't have my car here, but pretty much every miata down here has one because they've been beaten over the head so many times for it. I think just about every car at BEGi I saw had a front plate.

I'd rather not give the law a reason to stop me.

I have their intercooler also. Just make a longer bracket and place it between the bolt and the intercooler bracket. Works for me.

You can also make a metal panel same size as the license plate. Cheap galvanized steel works or you can do aluminum/ stainless. Drill holes so it mounts to the stock brackets a little higher up. Mount the license to that plate. Gets it out of the way cheap and easy.

I've run no front plate for way over a year now, been pulled over several times, and they haven't said a thing about it. I tell you though, if I had my plate in the windshield I know from personal experience it would've attracted more negative attention vs. no plate at all.

You could just report your front plate stolen. :P

I only have a second before my wife comes in and strips me naked and demands sex, but see the useful saved posts section, otherwise I'd post more pictures and details.

I got my side-mount bracket from DFWmiata. I'd sell it but I keep it around just in case I get a ticket. I haven't had it on my car in a year.

Got a written warning for no front plate (and a verbal for the exhaust)- 30 minutes, $3 strip of sheet metal from Home Depot, and some random bolts later:

you can get the bracket off an EVO if you know someone who has one and doesn't use it.....just drill 2 more holes and mount it......in jersey the plate has to be on the drivers side if it's not in the middle....and yes they have given out tickets for that.
