Just to throw in couple of words again, I currently have the greddy kit, have not bought anything from corky, and he has been nothing but helpful with everything. I can't even imagine if I had actually bought a kit from corky. Good luck man, installing is not that hard, and start saving again, you will want more power shortly. Entirely too much fun to blow the doors off of a riceboy next to you when he calls you a bitch for driving a Miata. This was coming from a dude driving a honda civic. Saw the dude a week later when I was in my camaro, and he flipped out.

Jon, with no garage, you are absolutely right to buy a kit. I know guys trying to install turbos in the carport of their apartment complex with a leatherman and a crowbar. It always goes badly.

Guys around here are fairly passionate about the routes they have taken and most have the numbers or reasoning why their way is the best, or maybe just better. Filter out the emotion and choose the route that's best for YOU based on time, resources, $$, and future upgrades.
I know MY DIY T25 is the **** and is one of the cleanest install around, plus nothing else has been shown to spool faster...look into the GT2554r option on the Begi kit.

If you really want to know which is a better kit, call Keith at FM or Corky at Begi and let them tell you why they each think their kit is better. I personally think the Bell kits are better engineered. Corky really is a damn genius. In the end, they're probably within a few percent of eachother part-for-part. I absolutely love the new silicone IC piping of the FM's. Others will disagree, but I love them.

As someone who has gone the Megasquirt rout in the past, I would stay away from it for my daily. Its not like installing a standalone from FM. You don't get the throughtly developed starter maps, and complete instructions. It took me two weeks of tuning with a wideband to get it running the way I wanted.

I have a DIY setup on my miata. I am about $1800 in and all I have over the basic FM and BEGI kits is a better BOV and ignition/mappable fuel control. The GT 2554R turbo you get with the kits is better than the remanufactured T25 I am running to the tune of about $400.

Don't get me wrong I am glad I went the way I did, but its more because I like to be in control of things than because I think I saved an armload of money.

I think the voodo is a better value than the series z because of more percise fuel control, and because you get a cast upper/stainless lower with partialy separate wastegate path downpipe instead of the all fabricated mild steel integrated wastegate path downpipe that comes with the series z.

You can opt for stainless steel for a little more. If that's the only thing keeping you from going Begi, it's an easy fix.

So I am looking at the BEGi stage 2 kit. Does the Xede EMU do everything you need for this kit? I am coming from an NA RSX and I only know that they always used Hondata Kpro for tuning. This is getting me all confuse with these different boxes and piggy backs and extra fuel pumps and stuff. I just want a turbo kit that will make between 200 and 250hp and spool up as fast as possible. But I want something that I wont have to buy tons of other stuff for. Is that asking to much?

Very well said. DIY isn't for everyone... and it's only for me half the time. Even I have been looking at BEGi's site every other week thinkin' "ya know... I could save up the cash for that kit and install it in a day.... that would get me boosted at least a year before I could finish the DIY". My issue has become time... Working 60+ hours a week and working on the house on weekends doesn't allow me much time to please my wife... none the less my car.

To each his own. Personally I prefer the BEGI kit with AFPR... The voodoo has an 8psi ceiling... if you add an intercooler and injectors later and want to up the boost it would have to be replaced... The BEGI kit on the other hand can be modified to increase boost a bit cheaper as you wouldn't have to throw the stock fuel control out the window.

The Xede is a pretty damned good unit... it will do everything you need I believe. It's pretty much the closest thing to standalone you can get without losing your OBD compliance and stock like drivability off boost.
