Paul, I just got off the phone with my dad and i told him i dont care what he has to say, Paul says to put in a thermostat so we are going to. so we are going to put in a thermostat with 2 1/8" holes like you have.
My fans are the stock fans, which i believe are pull fans, not push. ps, i dont apprieciate the stab in the back.

if you aren't doing the reroute there is no need for the holes drilled through the t-stat. if you are doing the reroute like mine try 1 hole first. i am gonna change my t-stat as soon as i get a chance and i am drilling 1 hole this time. hopefully i can ditch the shield after that.
stock fans can flow either way depending on how they are wired. mine are stock and were flowing the wrong way even though the wiring harness seemed not to be tampered with.

I was at ETD Racing today and got an opportunity to see some initial drawings of their Coolant Re-Route. It should be a very good piece, and priced very well. I ended up towing my car (2000 SE with EGR/Air/AC/FM2) to them today and they are going to use it to mock up this part as well as some other items.

alright guys, i started my re-route today, unfortunately i forgot my camera at home.. so heres my custom job... spacer at the back of the head to go to the heater core, turning to the intake side with the front housing, modifying the mixing manifold to be inline behind the motor or on the side of it,tubing of course would be parallel to coolant hoses. *quick question* does it matter if the mixing manifold is before or after the thermostat?
then continue to run 1.25" piping to the rad and use a 1.8L housing to go into the motor.
*second question* How do you use a freeze plug in the fron of the head? its not threaded or are you guys tapping so you can insert a freeze plug... would it be sufficient to just block it off with a cover and gasket or o-ring seal?

I'd put it after the thermostat, so that the thermostat would act as a little restriction to flow, so you get some flow thru the heater core. Also, that way when the thermostat is closed (engine cold) you will have a bunch of flow thru the heater core. This may cause the engine to warm up much slower though.
If you have the heater core return hose blended into the main line before the thermostat at a shallow angle, then the flow of coolant in the main line should produce enough suction to suck the coolant thru the heater core. I think.

ok, The heater core would only be used on the track to defrost the windshield, so it will rarely be used, and MAYBE if she wants to have some street time... mostly for the track... I am also trying to make the engine compartment as asthetically appealing as possible(i guess i could have 2 alluminum pipes welded at a shallow angle like you suggested) thats why I wanted to put the mixing manifold behind the engine...
