I burnt my hood up and now have a 14x14 area that needs to be fixed. My original plan was just to paint the hood black. But after this post. Im thinking I might just cut out the hole and a little longer to make an area that will release turbo heat. The area is right over the DP on the left top area of the hood. What do you all think?

That is exactly what I was planning for my hood.

I wish I knew who that guy is so I could ask him where he got the vents and for more pics.

He says that they took the hood off of their old race car after it crashed and cut that out of it. For a while, he was willing to just have that piece molded so that everyone could have a DIY extraction vent. Now he's making a whole hood, plus smaller extractors on the sides above each manifold area.

I think this is a decent cheap semi-solution:

Came across this and remembered this thread. Might look good and you can make your own cut outs, cheaper thatn a new hood for sure.

That's a LOT of filler, probably doubles the weight of the stock aluminum hood.

has anyone determined if these louvers are actually effective?

I don't like the vented hoods, but I could live with that.

^ I'd just as soon send my hood to a hot-rod shop and have louvres pressed in in those locations (or maybe just a single row above the turbo)

The hood that is on ClubRoadster is a template. The hood is at a molder right now to get produced in fiberglass first, and then in CF. The guy that is making it has gone to great lengths to make sure there is a lot of function with it, along with the other products he sells.

my roommate bought a hood vent for his dsm from this place: http://www.carbontrix.com/

they are part of road/race engineering... so they are good people to buy from. i've been eyeing the 18"x10" vent.

Read his writeup that I posted earlier in this thread. They're from a Grand Prix.
