extraction hood
An extractor hood just popped up on D.C. craigslist if anyone is looking. The seller says it'll fit 94-95 with pop ups.

what we can learn from posted pics of boner inducing rarri is that the additional extractors may work if the forward extractor is sealed of and the rest of the engine bay still is pressurized
do i make sense or am i in another state of mind due to those pics?

looks to me that the rear vents are extractors for brake cooling

no, this is what i saw too. I talked to FM today through email and they say their hood vent location works only because of the lip in front of them. So I'm buying that bitch.

18x10" extractor.

I've seen one on a DSM in person, they did a much better job, I'll probably cut out a hole and rivet the lip up underneath not just plopped on top. Then one day mold it in:

I guess there's no room to bitch about the miata hood bump when look at that dsm. They're screwed no matter what- it's all ugly. I'm seriously considering that piece. And then just doing a flat black stripe on the hood to disguise it... or make it look quasi-intentional. I build a template for the eBay fiberglass evo-esque extractor and if it's position as far forward on the hood as possible, the rear of the piece still intersects the base of the Miata hood bump.
I decided that 18" isn't wide enough. going to use a cheap *** universal wrx "style" scoop. flip it around and use it for the airfoil. I'll probably have to be creative like Ben with the bend to make it function, but I figure at 25" wide it's a better choice. It's 29" from light to light.

Mine's <14" wide at its widest point. 18" should be fine.

check out if there'll be turbulence on the trailing edge with it backwards. You might end up with a stagnation point at the opening where the flow curls back under the lip.
good point, can probably whip up walls that taper down to prevent this if it occurs, but $40 shipped > $110 shipped vs the carbontrix.

the extreme here is promising....

much easier to mold in vs the ebay one.
