I understand. There's no doubt that my setup is nothing but compromises. It built to meet a budget first- I wanted to do the entire engine swap and turbo setup with a standalone ecu for under $5k. Buying used was the primary vehicle for achieving that goal.

If you are planing to do a 1.8 swap why even bother looking at turbo solutions now? Get the swap done then buy the turbo gear. Why have your stuff sitting in a closet collecting dust.

Do all the supporting stuff now and keep an eye out in the classifieds, something will eventually come out. I suspect when FM get's production rolling on their new turbo kits the herd will get upgrade fever and there will be lots of **** for sale!

Doing the 1.8 swap, MS install, clutch and diff will take you a while.

If I buy the kit now, I save $300 in sales tax since I'm working in OKC. I'm pulling the trigger on MS when I sure of my tax return. I'm still afraid of the install though.

I know a guy with a JWS TT G35 Sedan. He can't hook the power in 3rd gear on 265mm tires. It's disgusting fast.

Idk he has full suspension done and very grippy tires. His car is a pretty good track car actually. Auto-x I would beat him, but like at MSR he can take me.

I've never tallied the receipts, but I've probably exceeded that figure by this point. The Greddy turbo kit itself was a very small portion of the overall project cost.

Not to say that a person couldn't install the base Greddy turbo and run it with no problems, I just have a compulsive need to modify things.

Right on- and no doubt I'll continue to modify mine. But I feel at this point the project is complete as the car now has the big engine, turbo and drives without any real obstacles/issues. IMO most diyers are exactly the kind that can't leave well enough alone.
