Default Inside of new IM

Just received my Flipside IM today, so here are pics of the insides as promised. I figure not everyone checks the build threads so...enjoy!

very cool, why no velocity stacks?

Is it wrong that I wish to copulate with that manifold?

I'm not sure how I like how the rear of the manifold closes right next to runner 4. Dunno how it would flow, but I wouldn't put a wall next to the intake of a cylinder.

Get in line... and I prefer raw-dog, so you'll want to wash it before your turn.

Tom, can we get a couple pictures of the outside... ports, throttle cable bracket, fuel mounts, etc... Is it made for the stock throttle body or a BBK unit or what?

I believe he will be running a larger mustang TB.

Cmon man, youre smarter then this. This isnt a forumla 1 race car, it doesnt have to be perfect.

would you prefer it wrap around to the exhaust manifold thus giving more thrust to the air entering the last runner?

Sam, check my build thread in the build section for the exterior pics. There are pics from before he shipped where he did a mockup with a mustang TB and TT fuel rail. I'm planning on using a 65mm mustang TB with the stock throttle cable and linkage. Once I get the TB, I'll take more pics of the actual linkage setup as well. Everything is under the manifold for a clean install.

Looks like a reasonable design to me. Velocity stacks probably only add another 2-4 percent. The shorter stacks are whats going to help the most. Peak torque will probably be another 1000 RPM higher, that can net some massive numbers.

his runners are now 3" long.
My IM design went to 6" runners with velocity stacks.

that's down from around 12".

His design tapers towards #4, mine doesn't...it's all a compromise. Both will be an improvement over stock.

It's badass, don't get me wrong. If I were to build one, I'd pretty much copy this one. Only thing I might would do different is not terminate the back right next to the opening for that cylinder. But again, I'm no expert and I have no idea how that would affect flow.

Actually, it's pretty, but who knows how it flows. Honestly, the most badass thing would be for someone with a freakin flowbench to at least have flow numbers as "proof." I'd take an IM that looked as pretty as Joe's custom turbo setup (you know, the one for sale that looks like it has some kind of disease ) if it flowed well. Hopefully, all the "theory" that went into the design translates into real world better flow.

Also, agreed that a small lip/velocity stack would have been nice, but probably added a lot more complex welding to an already labor intensive IM.

I've been told atleast, as far as aerodynamics, what looks like it would make sense, usually does. And as far as flow, what looks good usually flows pretty good. Not to say your eye is better than a bench test but, you get what I'm sayin'.
