What kind of cooler are you running?
Kit or piece together?
How much did it cost you?
What kind of oil are you running now?
What oil temps are you seeing under different conditions and how has it changed as opposed to pre-cooler.
Where is your oil temp sensor?
Has it effected your coolant temps?

What kind of pressure changes if any did you see change, higher/lower
Does the pressure change with oil temp
Where are you measuring your oil temps from, Feed line/drain plug ect
What size lines are you using

 

Pressure/viscosity will change with oil temp.
Also curious about the rest though.

I planned on using the cheap ebay relocation kit, get a small 6-12 row cooler, and use it without a thermostat. in the winter I planned on just using a block off plate.

Should be able to do it for under $100.

I have a wee Setrab (5x7"?) setup cobbled together, mounted behind NB '99/'00 tupperware foglight hole
Used push-on ~5/8"( 10AN?) Aeroquip like blue hose and barb fittings
Used oil filter sandwich plate with built in t-stat which I "ported"

Didn't have an oil pressure gauge

On a 105*F day steep uphill low speed twisties 2 miles, multiple back to back runs, blocking vs. unblocking the cooler, it was a 7*C difference in oil emps, and 2-3*C in coolant temps.

Jury's still out on the effects/impact.

 

Started with a Mocal plate and Earl's cooler, with -10 hardware. No pressure problems, but it took eternity for the oil to come to temp in street driving.

Removed all that and installed a stock water-oil exchanger off a 1.8 engine. Now my oil warms up even faster in the morning than when stock, and seems to stabilize around 200-210°. If pushing hard up the side of a mountain, it'll hit 220°, but that's about it. The OEM design on the '94+ cars was pretty good.

 

If some one is looking for a decently sized oil cooler with a built in thermostat bypass valve turn to our RX7 Buddies. In particular the FC model. I myself went with a Moss kit.

 

My oil temps come up fast (I still have the factory oil/water heat exchanger), and on a cool day is pegged at 180*F (t-stat temp). On a hot day it creeps up, and I can still hit 220*F when driving hard.

 

Miatamaniac,have you thought about using the OEM 1.8 oilcooler?

I heard it works pretty well and is easy to install.
