Many guys pay a lot more than that for a set of blingy wheels, which you can't see from the driver's seat. The steering wheel is something you see and touch the whole time you're driving and I'm just not thrilled with the OEM piece - too skinny and a touch large. One of the best changes I made to my '93 was to replace the OEM airbag wheel with a Nardi from an NB. There wasn't a time I drove that car that I didn't appreciate having done so. I'm hoping to replicate that "Ooooh yeah!" feeling with the ND as well, so it's worth it to me. On the other hand, I have no plans to drop $2K on a set of coil-overs, so you could say I'm still coming out ahead.

I get it. I usually hate spending coin unless it makes the car faster. But as a package experience, the steering wheel and shifter/ebrake boots really stick out as econo. Replacing them with lux parts takes the interior experience up a notch. Think of it as a percentage of vehicle cost: the $300 wheel I put in my $3k NA was proportionally more expensive than the $700 wheel I put in my $27k ND.

But like, you can get ahold of my boy Shin at Swedeit and he can rewrap your steering wheel in baller materials, make it thicker and everything for like $350.

Gotcha.

But this reminds me of when I was still deep in the E30 scene. Guys would pay stupid money to get an MTech II wheel for their E30.

To be fair, the wheel looks great! Just the cost!

Mazda just announced a "100 Anniversary" edition.

I like this a lot, except for the white dash trim

The white dash trim is from a 3 or CX-30 (the pictures are not all from an MX-5). Check the overhead top-down shot and it looks like Alcantara trim on the dash, just like for the 30AE.

Good catch DH. They must be doing the treatment to several vehicles in the lineup.

Yeah they are doing the 100th Anniversary thing to the MX30, too, which I don't think we get in the US.

The only thing I like about the ND version is the new key.

The color combo is quite lovely for the non-orange crowd. This shouldn't surprise anyone but I'd prefer the 30AE.

Sorry if this was posted elsewhere. NC trans adapter for ND. Pretty slick.

I think a couple folks on mnet have done it already. It needs to be paired with a less common ratio dif, but it's a comparatively cheap way around the ND weak link. I think the dif will be trickier to source than the trannie.

Tricky to get cheap, maybe. I think you can just buy the 124 bits from the parts counter at the Fiat dealer.

Agreed. I tend to think in terms of what I can shade tree, which limits me to a pumpkin swap.

Yes, if you run the gearing numbers, you absolutely have to run the 3.45 ratio from the Fiat or the automatic ND1's with an NC tranny swap. The ND2 automatics actually are a bit lower with a 3.54. Otherwise, your geared top speed would be 227 mph lol

I actually picked up a 3.45 rear diff from a Fiat from Redline Parts and sent it to Walter Motorsports to put an OSGiken in. I will run that and one of their built ND transmissions in my recently acquired 2019 Sport for track work. I will be keeping my 2019 RF as a daily and selling my 2012 NC and my 2018 124 Abarth to free up funds to modify both of them.
