this thread has exploded over the past few hours, i think im going to be sick....

correct me if I'm wrong but i don't think miata trannys have reverse synchros. At least mine doesn't because if I'm moving at all and try to put it in reverse, it grinds all to hell.

 

i have to rock my car back and forth to get it into reverse. or i have to shut the car off and jam it into reverse... to be honest im not sure if there is reverse synchro.. all i know is my car wont go into it without a very large fight

 

sometimes, the reverse light switch that screws into the side of the transmission will get old and hang up and will cause a problem shifting into reverse. This can also be a problem if the switch is replaced but the copper crush washer isn't reinstalled between the switch and the housing.
