oil pan gasket
hey guys new to the miata world
just picked up a 91 miata and it has an oil leak that look like its comming from the oil pan gasket how much trouble is it to do one of those and what all is needed to do a timing belt service

Its rare for these to leak, but possible. Could it be the dipstick tube grommet that's leaking? What about a front or rear main seal?
You pretty much have to pull the motor to replace that gasket.

I also came from the VW world. The front seal is pretty easy to replace, just unbolt the pulley the R&R on the seal. The trans is in the way in the rear. **** like this is documented on maita.net ad nauseam.

Because there is not enough room to drop the pan without dropping the subframe or pulling the motor. I'd pull the motor and hit every seal rather than deal with dropping the subframe...unless you have a lift I guess.
