So I just finished my turbo build this past weekend. 97 Miata with 69k miles and turbo goodies from Flyin Miata. I'm managing everything with MSPNP2. My question is, how would I go about getting it to pass inspection?

The easiest answer though not what you're looking for is to adhere to your state law.

Most people in strict states put their **** back to oem computer and such... Then swap back after. You can still be cited and forced for new inspection etc... Haven't known anyone to have that ticket. GL

The basics are to tie the waste-gate open, and run the stock ECU. Is there a visual component check, or just OBDII compliance/readiness?

Replace injectors and ecu. Wire wastgate open. Drive until checks pass. Inspect. Reinstall mspnp2.

That's basically what I was thinking would need to be done so that will be my game plan. My inspection is also good until August so there's no current rush. Just wanted to figure that out now rather than the month or week my inspection is due.

Oh and I live in North Carolina so no strict emissions testing.

but theyll need to plug into computer. if you remove computer, they cant plug in.

so youll need to drive the car on stock ECU for a bit to pass readiness checks.

once they are clear, you revert back.


should only mean driving with the stock injectors, ecu, and MAF for a few days driving carefully.

And depending on your state laws and age of car you may be able to get it registered as a classic with no emissions testing. Don't know about NC though.

In PA, cars under 3k? (5k?) miles don't need obd2 checks. Not sure if NC is the same way. Basically have to two clusters, rack up miles on your spare and swap the 'real' cluster in with under 3k miles/year. This ***** the mileage on your title though, which can be an issue when selling.

Don't do this though.

NC is safety only inspections now for cars >20 years old.
