Thread revival, i am having the same problem with my cog/gear. I have heated it with a torch to break loose the rust but still it doesnt want to budge. The Key is in great shape, but it will not slide out either.

Olderguy:

Where did you get that puller thingy and what did you do to the gear?

Ground out two slots in the cog to accept the puller. Grind the top, then turn crank 180 degrees and do other side.
