as igot the engine out and back in this winter i was making a free air calibration for my lc1 when i spotted my VSS,

the cable have broken off/ came off the speedo gear assembly
i can fit it back, but i cant make it stay there.i'm thinking about buying a new one this week

what i wanted to know is, does VSS in a miata is the same as a fwd mazda, not to swap it or anything, but when i broke my speedo cable on a escort GT, the speedo gear actually felt IN the transmition, wich sucked bad. do i have anything to fear exept loosing my speedo(wich i dont really care)?
