This turbo blanket is the business!

Here's my install with the BEGI S4 mani. Not overly pretty. Had to make a couple of cuts to get it wrapped around the Mani support and oil inlet.
While I was at it I added some heat shield fabric to one of the heat shields, intake pipes and the intake surround. Drilled some holes, used nut/bolt and large washer to hold the fabric to the shields. Lining the inside of the intake surround quieted the intake noise a bunch. Not silent but certainly less intrusive/ stealthier.

Well, the blankets don't like heat shields combined with track days. The post just before this one is before. This picture is after. Sorry, crappy phone pic. The blanket where heat is shielded at all whether it's the block, heat shield, or other object close by turned to ash. If it wasn't for the metal mesh it would just disintegrate. No problem with every day driving. HPDE did it in.
This picture is after the 1st session. Pretty much crumbling apart after the 4th. They'll take some heat but don't plan on them taking serious HEAT! That bright white area on the right is a hole. The gray area on the left it's burned to ash.

There is still the heat from the Manifold and DP to manage. Needs to be kept from the brake and clutch hydraulics, heater lines, etc. The blanket only keeps heat in from the turbo. There's plenty of heat coming off those other sources too. With the S4 Mani the blanket toasted between the turbo and the block too. I haven't crawled under or pulled it off to see just how much is toast. I'm guessing about 1/2 of it is gone.

Awesome information to have... looks like the grey fabric is the weak link. Perhaps instead of a heat-shield that insulates the mani/turbo, it would be wiser if using a blanket to shield/wrap individual components in the engine bay. I think with the S4, a ceramic coated manifold and turbo-blanket would cure 90% of our ills... the heater core lines and brake reservoir are easily "individually shielded".

Ceramic coating would have been the thing to do. Didn't know to even consider it when I had the car done. That thing pours out a lot of heat. For anyone doing a tubular header spend the extra money up front and get HEAVY ceramic coating done. Now that it's in the car, it's such a pain in the butt to remove I'm going to keep screwing around with bandaids.
The outside blackish material is now nearly white, the padding inside is basically ash and falls apart to the touch. The sides look OK, it's the 3" wide band of material that wraps around that's gone.
