+1 Optima Red top and some KY to get it in... When my timing belt slipped and car was being diag'd we must have tested and hit the starter at least 100 times - battery held charge entire time.. Good time to add a battery quick disconnect too.

I don't think Autozone sells the AGM battery anymore.

Advance Auto Parts

Autozone

O'Reilly

I think the OReilly one might be AGM though.

It used to be that mazda didn't sell the AGM battery (what comes with the car at the dealership) - not sure if this has changed but extra cranking power/longevity never hurts. Although my stock battery did last 7 yrs !

They don't sell the Panny AGM anymore. Now they have a flooded cell. Which, in reality, is probably going to be fine. People act like the trunk is going to explode or something if a battery vents a little in it.

I had a non-sealed battery in my Miata for years with out any problems. It was vented via a little hose going to the bottom of the trunk. It was branded Mazda and came from a dealer.

I now have a sealed battery from the local battery recycler. All is good.

duralast. the one in the miata has already outlasted my previous 2 optimas at 1 year...and I rarely drive the miata so it charges and discharges constantly.

leave a tender on it, or take the battery in the house and put it on a tender. they're like $15 at walmart.

$6.99 at Harbor Freight...best I've spent. Who knows how long I can nurse this 9-year-old battery.

I forgot to close the door on my car last friday night (horray beefeaters&Tonic). Went to get my laptop out sunday night and saw that the interior lights were on all weekend. Car started right up no problems w/o a sign of drain.
