No, it's standard IAME spec for the older Parilla Leopard engine that's in my son's TAG kart.
Though I can't know for sure, I suspect a domino effect that was simply due to metal fatigue/stress which caused an initial crack (not uncommon for the drive side crank half on these engines), that subsequently caused the diameter of the counterbalance to enlarge, which caused it to rub the case (notice the close proximity on the undamaged half), which quickly lead to some impromptu welding and the further severe fracturing that we see.
This all happened in the span of about 0.3 seconds as I was headed down the fastest part of the track which typically tops me out at around 16K rpms. It totally locked the rear end solid and instantly gave me a scenic view of every thing I'd just left behind me.
