This... I don't really see how they could have enough used blocks laying around for it to be worth it. With gm all replacement engines/trans/diffs are reman units. So you would think that all the cores sent back would just be rebuilt then sent out again not just scrapped. I could maybe see it used as part of the rebuilding process for the reman units. Seems more like a PR thing to make environmentalists happy to me.

There are some infomercials (and products advertised within) which are so utterly bizarre as to defy comprehension.

I took this short video a few days ago in a customer's rock mine. Red pickup truck to the right of the machine for size reference.

Where I ride my dirt bike, there are a few Marion draglines that no longer function just sitting in the middle of the landscape, rotting away.

Apparently, Valve has decided that the risk of a malevolent AI killing everyone is sufficiently small that they've gone ahead and constructed the Aperture Science factory to build game controllers.

Note the "Aperture" name and logo on some of the white robots. A quote from Valve:
"We kind of went overboard, and built one of the largest fully automated assembly lines in the US. We aren't crazy though, so humans are still on hand to keep the robots from becoming sentient."
Yeah. And humans were on hand when GLaDOS released the neurotoxin. That was kind of the problem.

(WTF was a robotics lab doing with a five-story vat of deadly neurotoxin in the first place, anyway?)
