Speaking of work. This was a mess.

So, the computer that runs our entire process line has a keyboard which has a button on it to sleep / shut down the computer. This button got hit accidentally. When the random computer shuts down the system doesn't know where any of the bars are at, so there needs to be a "bar placement". You basically go into the program and tell it where each and every bar is. It will then pick up where it left off. (you also have to home the hoists and shuttles, like a CnC back in the day) Really all you need to know is that they forgot to add the bar into that holding bay there. So when another one came to sit in that spot it sat on top of it. Generally not a problem with a box rack style bar like that because they sit on the hooks nicely. But the operator decided to be a hero instead of calling maintenance to assess the situation. He lifted the host off the top of the bar and as soon as he did that it wasn't holding it in place anymore and the bar fell over.

Operator never told the maintenance guy it was his fault...

The dude in the blue hoodie looks awfully casual about a big, heavy thing crashing down overhead.

I've used a lot of their small Airmax stuff in the past, over short distances.

I've found that the AirFiber units are much more finnicky about aiming (seems like about a 2-3° beamwidth) and I'm also aiming right for downsown Chicago, which has a hell of a lot of RF floating around.

Add to this that I can't get the Java app which runs the spectrum analyzer to run at the Sears end, and it's been frustrating. Here's what the air looks like at the WGN studios, about 6 miles north-west of Sears:

Those pretty-looking gaps in the waterfall are the spaces where you're not allowed to operate unlicensed radios in the US.

I'm simultaneously flattered and ashamed when I see people in other countries protesting the US President.

I mean, how many Americans could even name the leaders of just one or different European nations, much less care enough about them to march in the streets and picket their Embassies?
