The recycle ******** at the office where I work sometimes have some crazy stuff in them. Like worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars stuff, or what usually catches my eye, tools and raw materials. Verbal permissions have been given at the Sr. Director level to take stuff, but in a corporation of over 60000 employees, you never know. I had to stop looking because at times it was almost too much.
1. this is a picture thread
2. explain to me what "recycle ********" means. Is that their name? Or is it an insult to call someone a person of stature that also likes their own gender for sexy time?

"*******" is industry-slang for very large cardboard boxes, around 4 feet on a side, mounted to pallets.

They're used for bulk shipment of goods, and then commonly re-used as rubbish bins. We typically cycle 3-4 of them per month through the TV station for scrap cable going out to the recycler and such.

We have those at work and have never referred to, or heard them referred to as that.

Generic wheel hub assembly i bought from rock auto. Middle of the road price wise. Seems pretty baller for a G6 part.

These are a standard military item for transporting bulk anything... aircraft parts, food, *****'s... pretty much anything. We call them "tri-walls". They have the thickness of heavy 3 cardboard boxes... I'm not talking about Amazon cardboard either, I'm talking industrial cardboard that would shrug off a roundhouse from Chuck Norris... 3 corrugated layers of it.

There's probably 100lbs of gear in each of those red boxes on top:

Joe Perez,
Story about thief losing job because thief makes me happy. I put thieves right up there with rapists, bosses of government employee unions, self-proclaimed "community organizers", and international drug cartels. Few things make me as giddy as seeing a thief get swift and unexpected justice.

Re: ******** - I looked into folding plastic ******** when trying to decide how best to purchase and transport bulk shelled corn. I eventually settled on bulk bags.

Don't mind Marshall, he's just hanging out.

I've actually never had to fire anyone before.

I've had people in my sphere of influence who got laid off because of the natural ebb and flow of programming, but this is the first time I have had to actively have someone fired for cause. I honestly thought it would feel worse than it did.

And, to be honest, I was far more angry that he'd been stealing food and utensils from the janitor's little lunch area in the corner of the basement. I have the ability to solve missing drill bits in about a minute with the McMaster Carr account. But you don't steal the janitor's personal stuff. That pissed me off more than if Mr. Thief had walked out that door with my drill press. (Well, not walked, per se. He'd have likely been injured trying to get it up the stairs. That's an old-school drill press made with castings that make me think that iron was on sale at the time it was designed.)

I've never purchased bulk shelled corn, but I can see the advantage to bags, especially if you have a chain hoist.

Unrelated, you gotta love Florida...

The ones I have at the station at present:

They're great when you have moderate amounts of construction / demolition debris to deal with, as you don't have to cart them out to a dumpster individually. You just call the rubbish or recycling company when they're nearly full, and they send out a box truck with empty ones, which you swap out with the full ones using the forklift.

You know, you come from nothing, you're going back to nothing
What have you lost? Nothing!

Here is the TED talk I spoke about with some of us at MATG. Gist... technology is responsible for most of the advancements in sports, as opposed to the assumed advancements in training and nutrition. Of course, drugs always help as well.

Stuff like that is hit or miss depending on the company and who's watching.
Don't make it obvious that you're dumpster diving and don't take things just to try and resell. Even better if you can use it at work for a while still.

Fancy people dislike you making money off their garbage for some reason
