Much as in North America, 6-10 kg load capacity is common.

One thing they do have in Europe which is pretty neat in terms of space-saving are machines which are similar to front-loaders in the US, only the drum is turned sideways, and they load from the top, by having a releasable trapdoor on the drum.

Washing Machines in the United States don't actually exist. We actually produce cesspools and label them as washing machines; hence its no longer necessary to even fill them with hot water, if any water at all, or have agitators. Clothes that enter an American washing machine actually end up dirtier after a wash cycle than beforehand. In fact, we now sell products to wash washing machines and stripping laundry has become a very common practice over here for people who aren't interested in carrying scabies.

You can thank the U.S Government and unnecessary regulations for this; they are here to keep you healthy and clean!

Nothing I said was untruthful.

Typically 600x600x850mm This is for standard front-loading machines, although depth may vary. Top-loaders are typically narrower but taller (and less practical than they seem at first glance)

Maybe part of a GIANT sphinx that's slowly sinking even further underground?

Sometimes, you just have to operate a hoverbar:
