Go out and buy a dead blow hammer for 7 or 8 bucks? Hell no. Spend 10 bucks on a brass tee, another 6 on a piece of ash, and multiple hours in the shop to make one. 'cause that's just how we roll.

I have absolutely 0% trouble in believing that you built that thing.

And I'm wondering what material you hammered through the top of the shaft and then worked / smoothed out along the contour of the brass is.

Sidebar: any Mark Rober fans here? I sent him this on FB, waiting to see if he replies.

Pin is simply mild steel. Peened, then smoothed on a Scotchbrite wheel. Faces are Delrin and polypropylene. All stuff I had in the shop, including the lead shot inside.

Are you familiar with a Youtuber by the name of Uri Tuchman? He builds... everything.

Hammers, chisels, astrolabes, Japanese pull-planers, belt buckles...

Here's his tutorial on how to make preserved lemons, from scratch. He didn't actually plant the lemon tree itself, but that's about the only shortcut taken.

There's also a potential wisecrack in here about non-Newtonian genderfluids.

Here is a video of a cat riding an escalator:

click to play

That's literally all there is to this post. No politics, no vaccine conspiracies, literally just a cat on an escalator.

Here's the original: https://www.facebook.com/reel/164670753194711

Again, it's just a cat riding an escalator. Don't get your hopes up too much, despite the lead-in drama.

**** it. Look up "cat riding an escalator" on the web-search tool of your choice.
