This is what happens when you come to work in a nylon tracksuit and the workplace Health&Safety-**** insists that your clothes don't meet safety standards for welding.

 

I have occasionally bemoaned the failure of consumer-grade VR to live up to the promise which it made to a young me in 1993, when I first put on that helmet of a Virtuality CS1000 machine at the Sarasota Square Mall in Florida, and spent several minutes trying to shoot a friend of mine inside an immersive, three-dimensional platform-style game while occasionally being attacked by a giant pterodactyl.

Since then, a few VR-like fads have come and gone.

Turns out that yet another one is coming, to the Wonderverse, an adult playground in the Chicago suburbs which opens tomorrow.
