A little excessive yes, but so what. Dumb bastard should know better than to do whatever brought the cops out in the first place (robbery?) and then to turn and approach an officer with a crow bar raised like he was ready to swing. One less piece of ---- to worry about walking the streets.

 

He was smashing the windows of Carls Junior. Cops has tasers and a dog but shot him 10 times instead, he died immediately.

The guy could have been mentally ill, but I guess when they dont know cameras are on them its alright to be judge, jury and executioner of an annoying brown person.

What, did they kill him twice or something? I've never understood why people give a flying f*ck about how many times the cops shoot some dirtbag. How many times do you think you would have ---- him? It's not like the cops where thinking "yeah, I'll shoot him 5 times and you shoot him 5 times just to remove whats left of his face, that'll be funny". No, they just acted, like you or I would if a deer jumped into our lane. Nobody needs to be fired.

Last time I was down in key west there was a Navy guy who got shitfaced drunk and started smashing the windows at a scooter rental shop.
Thats a man who was actively serving in the US armed forces, how do you think the media would react if he had been shot and killed on the spot? what if the police had non-lethal tasers and a police dog but instead decided to shoot the guy in the face?

Thats exactly what happened, except because its some unidentified mexican nobody gives a ----. Just another "********" off the streets right? Hes not even really a person because hes from a smelly third world country. He deserved to die because he bowed up at a inbred highschool educated police officer who is holding his gun sideways like a ------- thug.

 

there have been a few, if not many cases where officers have unloaded rounds upon rounds on innocent men (sean bell and amadou diallo) for some "recent events...while i understand you point, there's no reason to shoot someone more than two-three times, let alone 41-50+

that video is good for lots of reasons. a lot of people have been trying to claim "police brutality" based on youtube/metacafe/googlevideo/etc... videos for a while and some rightfully so. i am normally one who feels disgusted when watching "police brutality" videos, but i don't necessarily disagree with what happened in the video.

instead of shooting, the officer could have released the k-9, sure. but in the heat of the moment, i think it's fair to justify the officer's actions.
this isn't as cut and dry as some of the other "police brutality" videos out there.

That right there is why he got shot multiple times. It wasn't "the tazer had little effect". It had NO effect indicating some powerfull drugs were in his system and with that pick ax looking thing he had he could have easily killed one or two cops before being subdued. I think the cops acted by the book.

 

Personally, I think cops should go back to carrying batons. Killing this moron was not justice served.

 

Agreed. You wanna not get shot? Stop acting like a dickwad smashing other peoples stuff while high, and then threatening police officers with deadly force.

 

I like that idea, but cops progressed from batons to firearms when criminals did. I know that in this case the crim didn't have a gun, but the precedent for cops carrying is there and you get situations where this kind of thing happens. The way I look at it is like this: Crim with ax has a huge advantage over Cop A (who didn't have gun drawn), so to even things up Cop B pulls gun which is huge advantage over Crim but why should we give a criminal a fair chance to take anyone's life?

EDIT: I agree its not fair or just, but I think it comes down to a him or me situation and you gotta pick the lesser of evils.

not many years ago, I probably would have agreed with you, for alot of reasons. But the key one I'd like to point out, this aint the 50's anymore. Back then a gun shot had a very good chance of killing you, but medical science has advanced to the point where one or even two gunshots is very survivable.

There is clearly some disconnect with what reasonable force should mean. Action like this makes the Rodeny king thing look like a school yard scruffle, that guy is DEAD. Why are we so numb to it now?

 

He didn't have a chance to take anyone's life...he made a gesture and was killed.

At least they could have just shot him with an arrow to the knee.

 

Maybe he was an illegal immigrant trying to indicate that he was here to play baseball.
