Ah, I see you're correct. I glanced at it only briefly (was averting my eyes, mostly) and the door shape looked Miata-ish. Didn't notice the kick-up aft the doors, however.

I was going to guess something in the neighborhood of a '70s vintage GM F-body car, but the crease in the door skin is missing.

You're unbelievable, Joe.

Yes, that's what it is..
Pretty much the first time ever I feel sorry for an F-body car.

No one will ever know whatever the hell those guys were thinking.

Huh.

I was kind of torn. The curved part at the rear of the doorskin is what made me think F-body, but you see in the picture y8s posted how there's a horizontal crease that runs all along the width of the door? The image you originally posted doesn't seem to show that- the door skin seems almost perfectly curved. That made me doubt my guess somewhat.

Just out of curiosity, did you grow up in an English-speaking country? I ask because, in addition to displaying a better grasp of English grammar than most Americans I know, you seem to have an extremely high level of awareness of elements of Anglo-American culture that I would not expect from someone who was raised in an environment where American or British media was not prevalent.

I was born and raised in Turkey.
I was blessed with an exceptional education here, and I took the first chance I had to move to the US.
That was way back in '85, when I was offered a scholarship to continue my studies.
I lived in the US for 20 years before I returned to Istanbul.

I have always been very much into cars, especially two seater convertibles, and I was the third person in line at the Mazda dealership when the Miata was about to be launched. (I used to drive a 1973 TR6 Triumph back then)

Turkey, especially Istanbul is fine and dandy, but there are certain things I miss. The car scene is one, for instance.
So, I latch on to this forum to make up for what I miss (pun intended) and keep up with what's going on over there.

That's pretty much me in a nutshell.

Sounds like you had a pretty exciting experience!

States vs Turkey? What are the huge differences?

Yeah, I've hardly been outside of Kansas, muchless the country.

I dont know if I had the year right. I just picked a side shot.

the shape of the perimeter of the door is what makes it look right. the door handle/lock looks wrong but, like the crease, they could have bondoed the shiit out of it.

Watching this video is a requirement on xda-developers if you want to register in the forums. Maybe we should add it too?

Hahaha! That is some seriously funny stuff.

The full product demo, for those who still have their old NES lying around:

Even the Trail View mode is perfect. The Vons near my home:

Thanks for that, oilstain. I probably wouldn't have had any reason to use Google Maps this weekend otherwise.
