Exactly... you'd better start praying to multiple gods that nobody on this board gets your boot-camp mailing address. There's a 99% chance you won't have any internet or cel-access for the first few weeks, so you'll never know what's coming. I think my first package will probably be worth about 1000 pushups for your whole company.

I would highly reccomend a movie called "Ears, Open. Eyballs, Click." which is a documentary about bootcamp.

You get one phone call when you get there that is scripted, its about 10 seconds long. You can earn more, but I wouldn't count on it. My brothers platoon earned an extra phone call form their Senior DI but then he left and the killhat (least experienced DI who is in charge of killing recruits) toke over they got no phone call. He did end up getting one after the crucible during Marine Week. There is no internet use and you can not take your cellphone to bootcamp.
You aren't supposed to get packages, but in my bros platoon at lest, when somebody got one they just threw it out. His Sr. wasn't all about killing people for stuff like that, and it might have been either early in bootcamp when the recruits where having a hard enough time, idk. Some got occasional magazines though, which was allowed.

 

The armadillo bugs were out in force this morning....kinda strange sight...
