Here's my evening:





Getting in my car to leave a social gathering at the local Dairy Queen when I heard a crash. Quickly looked to my right to see a Chevrolet Equinox and Mazda6 spinning off the road into a parking lot. Rushed over to make sure everyone was okay and found two teenage girls in prom dresses running around barefoot and completely hysterical along with a mid to late 20s guy going "What the ---- just happened?!" Only injury was passenger of the Equinox with an airbag burn on her right thigh just above the knee. Jesus those three were lucky.

Wreck took place on MO hwy 350 in the Number 2 westbound lane. Best I can account the male was driving westbound in the mazda6 when the females in the Equinox pulled out of the gas station parking lot without seeing the oncoming vehicle, very likley were attempting to cross the highway and go either south or eastbound on 350. Highway speed is 45mph so it's safe to assume the male was traveling anywhere from 40 to 50mph at that point. After verifying there were no injuries and contact the police, then learned the male driver of mazda6 was armed but had placed his firearm in the trunk of his vehicle. Decided to stick around until the police showed up which took 17 minutes. Not a very acceptable response time considering the police station is 6 minutes away from the TC scene, however I did report no apparent injuries to the dispatcher.



An officer finally showed up, I notified him that I was not a witness nor had any direct involvement and he dismissed me. I went home. Have to say, both of those cars were totaled but I'm impressed at the lack of injuries. That's one prom night they'll never forget.

 

 

When my NB got hit, it happened RIGHT IN FRONT OF A COP... he was camping with his radar. We literally walked up to him and told him what happened, he said he cannot help us because it's out of his jurisdiction and we need to contact highway patrol. So we called and waited for the ------- pigs for over an hr... no one showed. I went to my local police station to make a police report of the accident the person at the counter said I have to call highway patrol to make a police report because this happened about a mile away out of their jurisdiction... WTF IS THIS BS?

Police are unbelievable sometimes. The only wreck I've ever been in was witnessed by a cop and it potentially saved my job! Rear ended some woman in my company vehicle back in 2007 while working for a company that required a completely spotless MVR. Turning right at an intersection with a green arrow, she started around the corner and stopped about halfway through the turn. I've been in a habit for a while to check my left as I'm turning right and when I turned my head back to the right saw she was stopped, attempted to avoid hitting her but it didn't happen. Ford E350 passenger corner of the bumper hit the mid point of the rear bumper cover on a 200x Toyota Matrix, did hardly any visible damage to the matrix but bent the STEEL bumper on the van back into the passenger tire. Cop gave her like 3 tickets for that and I received none, turns out the woman was a friend of a fellow turbo miata owner's wife. Oops.

Yesterday while running an erred we passed a crash, nothing new, but traffic in the right lane where we are is stopped, the accident is in the opposite lane where traffic was also stopped. Well, not everybody felt like stopping. A driver passing the accident and looking at it instead of the car she was rapidly approaching suddenly noticed the car 20 feet in front of her was not moving.
I calmly said "Crash", motioning in the direction of the impending incident.
The driver (who I could not see at this point) locked up the brakes to no avail. The driver hit the stationary car, and the cops working the accident did not look pleased.
I looked over at mom, and said "I'll bet that isn't a dude".
I was correct.
