This bad mother ****** was seen messing around in my garage, so I took swift action. I'm starting some aero work soon and I do not tolerate distractions. Normally I would not care if he was in the garage, but my time to work on the Pelican is limited and can't be wasted on vermin.

If there are more, they will suffer the same fate as him. I will show not mercy on the young if they happen to be there still. I was tempted to hang his corpse from the rafters as a sign for them to GTFO. But I decided a swift kidnapping would be more of a psychological attack on the others.

Huh. I've never used one of these old-skool traps (never had a rodent problem) and I really had no idea that they were capable of cutting through the skull like that. I'd have expected more of a crushing injury, but that thing cut through him like a hot knife through butter. That's an amazingly clean and straight wound. Looks like a fairly humane kill, really.

I used to have a video of a grape fruit versus a rat trap, it nearly cleaved the grape fruit in half.

The old style traps really pack a solid punch. I went to the hardware store today and asked about rat traps. They kindly pointed me to the "humane, small traps for mice" section, I respectfully declined and grabbed two of the old school hitters. I made it clear that to them that I was not hunting a mouse, but a rat at least a foot long (turned out to be 15 inches) and that my life could very well be on the line.

I didn't have the time or patience to waste on "humane" forms of action

my cats catch mice periodically. apparently most houses have mice living in them in the attic, basement, walls, whatever.

 

I once had a family of raccoons living inside the wall between the laundry room and the living room at my apartment in Mason, OH.

Took a hell of a long time to figure out what was going on. I gotta tell you- the sound of a raccoon shimmying its way up the inside of a wall at 2am as heard from the next room over is some weird ****.

Actually, watching a half-dozen raccoons pour out of the large hole that you just knocked in the wall with a hammer and start freaking out and bouncing around the (very tiny) laundry room is pretty hilarious. I wish I'd owned a video camera at the time.

Also, I found that the owners of apartment buildings respond much more seriously (and more quickly) when you inform them that you have just torn down a wall inside your apartment vs. simply complaining about weird scratching noises.

I managed to snap a photo of mamma as she exited on her nightly rounds. I'm amazed I can still find this:



You can see that she has laughed at the flimsy barrier that the apartment owners put in place in lieu of actually fixing the problem the first time around.

Sometime ago, when I lived at home, we had some mice getting int othe cereal boxes kept in one of the lower cabinets. This was most likely because that particular cabinet also had an exhaust vent in it that exited to the outside world. So being frustrated with finding small holes in the cereal, I decided to fight back. I grabbed one of those small single-serving boxes and enjoyed the yummy contents and proceeded to leave about 1 teaspoon of food in the box. I then placed a small mouse trap within the box and carefully set it back in the cabinet. The problem was, I forgot I had done this after checking it for about a week. However, I was promptly reminded about it a few week later as a rather pungant odor was being emitted in the kitchen area. It took another day to come to the conclusion of checking the mouse trap. Luckily all I needed to do was pick up the box and shake it to hear that there was something inside of it...something more than the original trap I placed inside it. That was the last time I used a mouse trap.

 

Used poison once in the garage. Mouse ate it. Crawled into vent inside car, died. rotted. stank as the car sat in a heated garage over winter. full fail come spring.

cleaned car, tried to get rid of the smell. sold car mid summer as rot made me gag.

I once had an orgy of 6-8 raccoons in my back yard tree. about 2-3 am we heard some crazy screeching noises and couldn't see **** so I busted out the big mag lite and saw all these creatures in the tree. There were maybe 3-5 in the tree and another couple on the ground AND another one or two coming down the street toward our house!

Really annoying noises. Scares the **** outta you when racoons are ******* and fighting that late near your windows.
