At the speeds they are probably going weight means very little compared to aerodynamic drag. And +100hp is not exactly a trivial amount.

Like MNIVET said he was on 9 pounds, he had previously turned it down from 15 pounds for a auto x event and that my friends is a WORLD of difference not saying he would have beat him just saying it would have been different
He dynod (Or at least claims) 700+@15lbs, not 9lbs.

Couple quick points.

That vette is at 800rwhp (950+ crank) on a D1, built motor and, most importantly, a built auto. It's a serious, serious car that also has a huge aero advantage over the miata with it's top down and roll bar exposed.

And as previously mentioned the miata was on 9lbs which is no where near the power needed to take on that monster vette.

Sit got real in this onboard video at the NASA race at Road Atlanta last weekend. You'll see why ti's really important to check your mirrors at about 6:20 because they were hitting about 145mph through there in those cars. I've been shotgun in a GT3 RS that hit 161 before braking at that next left turn.

I'm pretty confident I could go to any track from Forza or GT and at least not be completely lost and catch on really quickly. I at least know roughly the braking points and the best lines.

Less so in the straights, but if braking and cornering are at the edge of limits of tire adhesion it is an enthralling handful to control. And you still need to pick your braking points, turn in points, and driving line for every turn. Most cars are far less interesting when driven in a straight line, though.

Do you ever watch Top Gear? Economy cars and even city buses can be fun at their limits.

Comparatively in that configuration the Miata would have crummy aerodynamics, nose heavy weight distribution, and undersize tires.

Besides that street racing is for douchbags. They would probably both get beat by a spec miata with ~100hp on a road course.
