Default Angsty commie rant thread

Not to sound like an angsty teenager here, but I figure I should at least talk to someone about it.

I'll start off with some background on me:
I'm 17. I come from a wealthy family, and there's no denying that. I try not to fit into the stereotypical wealthy teen persona – I probably only have 250 dollars worth of cloths, shoes, socks, all that. Much less than some people's pants and handbags cost. I do most of my shopping at Target or Walmart.

I try to make my own way as much as possible – I got a job so I was less reliant on my parents. I pay for as much as I can for myself – I buy my own cloths, electronics, car parts, gas, that sort of stuff. Like I said, I hate being grouped in with other people. For whatever it's worth, I'm pretty smart. I don't mean school smart (Which I am too), but I can always find my way, if you know what I mean. I can read in between the lines all too well. I can pick up new skills with almost no effort at all.

I really don't like people. I have met very few people who I like, and even fewer people who I can stand or want to associate myself with. I very much like the idea of sitting in my room all day or working on my car in solitude. If it wasn't for school, I probably wouldn't even leave the house. Don't get me wrong, I have a few good friends. But even my best of friends annoy me sometimes.

I have a severe lack of motivation. I find myself hating myself for it. I'm currently 2 chapters behind in homework. It makes me so angry that I want to punch things, yet I can never bring myself to do it. I have a chapter test for AP Stats tomorrow, and I don't know any of it, yet I just can't bring myself to do anything about it. It's not like I have anything else to do either, sometimes I'll just sit around and stare off into space rather than do anything about it.

I even sometimes find myself with a lack of motivation to live. I don't like thinking about these things because then it really comes through in my mind and makes me want to vomit. I oftentimes think “I have nothing to live for”. What do I have to live for? I'm not helping anyone, I shut myself away from other people. It's not like I would go out and hang myself or anything, I just wouldn't mind so much if I just stopped living. I wouldn't fight for life if something happened.

It's hard to believe that I'm typing this because of my lack of motivation. I want to do something about it, but I just can't bring myself to care enough to actually do it. I'm a junior in high school – probably the most important year, and I find myself doing even less than I did last year.

I'm not really sure where to put this in, so I'll just throw it out there. I don't think, at any point in my life, I've ever taken anything school related seriously. I remember in 4th grade, the year that my school first started to give us homework, I did absolutely nothing. I have studied for about 2 tests in my life. Last year, if I had spent 45 minutes studying for my Chem final, I could have easily gotten an A in the course. I knew this at the time, and I still did nothing. I ended up with a C because of it.

I really have no priorities. I have nothing to push for, nothing to work hard for. I often times find myself bored out of my skull, even when doing many different things, even my favorite things. I can't stand being alive sometimes. It's so boring that my stomach starts to hurt and I want to claw my intestines out to make it stop.

Anyone got anything? And sorry for the BS thread, I know people have **** way worse than me (Hell, just reading WonTon's old thread made me feel better), but I really just needed to collect my thoughts and see what people had to say.

About 20% of the guys I supervise in the Navy joined up for exactly the reasons you're talking about. For whatever reason, life has never been a challenge and they're bored. You have the advantage of having "means" which most of the guys I supervise don't have.

My very strong advice to you is:
#1: Get some counseling. Seriously, you need a little professional help.
#2: Join the military.

Most people would simply say "Shut the **** up and grow a sack"... and some guys can manage that... but it won't last. In a few years, you'll be bored again in college and be back where you are now.

I appreciate this response mang. It made me realize something: What you said in the first part completely applies to me in every single way. Life has never challenged me. I have never had to work hard for grades, necessities, things like that. I would say that I really don't understand working for something, since I've never had to do that before.

Also, gotta be completely honest here, I'm too much of a ***** to join the military.

This is some stupid advice. Why should you risk your life for someone else's agenda to fulfill their life's ambition when you don't even know what your own ambition is?

Instead of ******* around being a mindless slave for the government, **** around and be a mindless slave for yourself. Just don't feel like **** about yourself, because regardless of what choices you make, those choices are all your own so be a manboy and own them.

There's nothing wrong with having a wealthy background. Enjoy your life and if your parents have so much money they could retire many times over, enjoy their money too. That is, do it if they have no problem with you being a "man of leisure". Life won't necessarily get worse after high school. For me, it got a million times better. When you're done with school, why not do **** like travel the state, travel the country, travel the world, ride tigers, **** bears, and mine lithium in Peru?

When in your spot, I went to UNOH. It put me around pure automotive, and though it killed a few years of my life, it taught me how to study and enjoy school. Had it not been for the house fire, I'd still be working on my bachelors from the school.

Check it out, convince your parents its the way to go, and have a TON of fun while getting a 20 year head start on automotive knowledge.

To either find yourself, or to have them tell you what you are to be. Either way it works. If it weren't for UNOH, I was military bound, and kind of regret not going that route.

If you never try anything or search outside of the obvious you're destined to go nowhere. Mediocre is a lifestyle that too many embrace and is only overcome by challenging ones self to be better.

You should work to become the best Fry cook that McDonalds has ever had.

Dude you are 17. Being a teenager sucks for everyone. What you do not realize is that your life is 10x better then your parents was and most likely 100x better then your grandparents. You do no realize it because things are relative and you have no basis on how bad things can be. So relax a little and try to enjoy being young. Also get ******* A's in math and take as many math classes as you can. You might hate it, but it will make things easier later in life.

Your life is so easy it is boring and, you have no ambition brilliant. How about you totally divorce yourself from your parents money for a semester and realize how shitty real people have it and, own your life. Nothing is more character building than having bills to pay and, no matter how hard you work, you can never get ahead on them or get breathing room to relax. If this doesnt kill you maybe you will figure out what the **** you want to do, if it does then maybe you where to soft anyway.
