Any gym rats here?
yeah and thats ok NA if you could just hit the gym with someone like me or any of the other guys on here you would see that it realy is enjoyment for us and who knows it might spark something you enjoy as well. pushing steel is just as fun as going fast in your car man.

To better explain my point, this is me as of about a year ago. Now it's about the same, just add about a 20lb beer gut lol. Never did any real weight lifting, maybe just a few bicep curls every now and then out of boredom. That's from working construction.

Not huge and bulky, just fit and strong. At that point I was about 6' and 175lbs
thats all i do now as well considering i dont wanna drive 13-16 miles to go to a gym somewhere else when i have most of what i need here at home. if i only had a spotter i could probably get back to the way i used to work out but until then i'll just mess around the house working out alil at a time.
Yeah. I would probably do some bench presses, since my chest is about the weakest part of my body, but I don't dare do it without someone to spot me. That would be one advantage to a gym I guess. Therefor I do all I can with push-ups and any other chest related exercise I can think of. Not sure how much it helps me, but I do a lot of isometric exercise. I do think it plays a huge part in me not having lost any of my size in the few years since I have been done with construction work. Like right now, as I sit behind the computer I flex my chest, abdominal muscles, neck, back, legs, ect. Nothing else to do and no reason not to. I do the same thing while driving, I'll do a lot of isometric back exercise, flexing my back to keep me planted in my seat. Again, not sure how much that actually does.

Any of you guys into crossfit? Welcome to CrossFit: Forging Elite Fitness
Not really my cup of tea, but a lot of the guys at the gym do it. Seems to give you a lot of torso strenght, kinda leans towards miliary exercise.

I do some stuff similar to that kind of thing. Using awkward and heavy objects instead of weights. One of my favorite things to do is climb trees using only my upper body, letting my legs dangle. I have plenty of good tree climbing trees, so why not. Kind of like climbing a rope, just more difficult.
What exactly is crossfit. I read the "what is it" section on the site but I'm still not clear.

Yes, I do crossfit a couple times a week.
These are some typical sample crossfit workouts:
http://crossfitmetro.com/what-is-cro...sfit-workouts/
Here's a benchmark workout:
"The Filthy Fifty"
For time:
50 Box jump, 24 inch box
50 Jumping pull-ups
50 Kettlebell swings, 1 pood (52lbs)
Walking Lunge, 50 steps
50 Knees to elbows
50 Push press, 45 pounds
50 Back extensions
50 Wall ball shots, 20 pound ball
50 Burpees
50 Double unders
So you do that all as fast as you can.
Other workouts may be just a few sets of deadlifts or a 5k run- Crossfit gyms/websites usually issue a "Workout of the Day" which sits well with the previous and next day's workouts. In short, it's cross training for workouts not sports. You get a good mixture of workouts all in one. Most of the workouts are timed and the timing factor adds a great deal of intensity. It's easy to do 200 pushups at leisure but not as fast as you can.
I find A+ for cardio/anerobic/aerobic conditioning, B+ for strength condition, B for fat loss, A for power, A+ for martial arts, A+ for general conditioning/strength for sports.
Unless you're in superb athletic shape you'll easily be gasping for air and having serious muscle fatigue the first few workouts. It's very very intense.
