Autocross and/or Track

The 275s are hard to catch a slide with. The rear end comes around and you counter-steer to catch it, but the amount of grip when it catches overwhelms the car and sends it off in the direction of the counter-steer. It doesn't bother me on an autocross course, but the consequences on the track could be bad.
That usually has more to do with the compound and your suspension setup than tire width.

I have run the same compound tire in a 225 with the same suspension and never had an issue. The 275s are a whole new game. I can't explain it, you just have to experience it.
I haven't put a g-meter in the car, but I am guessing I am pulling closer to 2gs than 1g in the corners. A race seat and harness have become a necessity.

yeah i hope it goes through, it has to...this area is booming fast, Bruton Smith wants to bring the NHRA to charlotte as weel righ next to the Lowes motor Speedway, when people started bitching he simply said no problem, ill move the lowes speed way to texas, now he has the go ahead...i think once poeple realize how much money this will bring in to the area and how minimal the affect of it would be they wil stfu and enjoy the new cash cow
i wasnt planning on running the 275's at tracks, i just want those for the auto-x's so i can be competative in the class, i just want to get the expense out of the way before i start tracking...

Track time is better then sex... almost.
I always loved driving on track but never competed in anything more then small club races, just for fun. Had a lot of fun with a couple of GoKarts when I was younger. The time on the track is one of the big reasons I bough the Miata and pretty much the only reason why I did all my mods. In the US I did DE and track days at VIR and CMP.
I just moved back to Europe (from Sweden to NC, USA to Germany) and brought the Miata I bought (and worked on) in NC with me home. It is in winter storage now and I can't wait for the spring when I get to drive it on Hochenheim or the Nürnburgring. If I only had a turbo, my life would be complete.
