Agreed fully on the Unobtanium...

It's damn near unobtanium here unless you can get through to the Abbey on the phone and reserve a spot to pick a case up, then you gotta get there at like 1pm on a random ass wednesday once a month to pick it up, otherwise they won't sell it to you. Being military doesn't leave much time on wednesdays for traveling ~5 hrs for a case of beer or three. I paid an average of 20 euro a piece for those three Westy's

I like Kalik, Land Shark and Presidente. Only beers I've really tried more than once. Fuckin island beers man.

Was definitely a part of the Rogue Nation last night... Had myself a 22 oz. Rogue Mogul Madness Ale and a 22 oz Rogue Morimoto Black Obi Soba Ale. The Mogul Madness Ale was basically their winter seasonal. So imagine a typical winter seasonal only with a less definitive spicy flavor to it. Worth a shot if you enjoy the winter ales that come out. The Morimoto Black Obi Soba Ale is a darker version of the regular Rogue Morimoto Soba Ale as seen in the name. If you are not a huge fan of dark beers, I would suggest trying the regular Soba Ale prior. If you enjoy this ale, you will like the Black Obi Soba Ale as it is basically the same flavors only more intense to the palette.

And yes, the Morimoto Black Obi Soba Ale was poured properly and still has that much head on the beer. Mmmmmm...

Saw a lonely 6 pack of Full Sail LTD Series No. 01 sitting in the cooler at the store tonight so I brought it home. The few I've had so far are pretty tasty.

Drank another 22 of my Deschutes Abyss stockpile. Only 7 more bottles of last year's batch. It has aged well. Yum.

Ms Mobius was being thoughtful today, and thought she was buying me some more Abyss. Turns out it was Deschute's once-a-decade bottling of their super-Jubel.

Has a "best-after" date of 1/29/2011 :)

I agree with this, unequivocally:
I bought it as a substitute for Piraat because a) Piraat is $21 per 4-pack, b) they were out. It doesn't really get me to Piraat land because it lacks the "Champagne appeal" and it lacks the "heat" of high alcohol beer, its lacks the carbonation of THE GREAT ONE, it lacks the peaches and sugar that I longed for, and it lacks heat, and it doesn't taste like the bottle has any age on it, and unfortunately lacks the hardcore, back-alley Belgian funk...but its solid and probably better than what anyone in this state is drinking ATM. Comparing anything to Piraat is unfair, its like another world. Do yourself a favor and pick up a Piraat some time and you will understand the glory. Its pure glory, the pinnacle, and true Marlin of beers, hotter with every drink, you know you're drinking a champion.

p.s. I'd like to thank Artie Partie for our erotic night together at The Monk where I discovered Piraat, and was forever changed.

I don't think I've seen the Avery Salvation at my local stores around here, but I do know we get Avery here as I have two of their limited releases sitting in my beer fridge right now.... I will have to look for it next time I go beer shopping.

Hustler, have you tried the He'Brew Bar Mitzvah Jewbelation 13th Anniversary Ale? That is the drunkest I have EVER been off of one beer. 13 different types of hops, 13 different types of barley, and 13% ABV; all in a convenient 750 mL bottle. o.O

75CL of 13% and you were drunk...what a puss! LOL, in all seriousness my time in Germany/Belgium has done wonders for my tolerance level. I'm 127lbs and I've gotta down two or three of the average 75CL Belgian bottles to get a buzz these days.

Haha! My tolerance has fallen off since college definitely (3 years of corporate America will do that)... I was drinking it rather quickly prior to looking at the bottle, so that, and working 14 hours that day didn't help I'm sure. Not a great idea to say the least. I'm 140 lbs, BTW.

I picked up some Kona Brewing Co. Pipeline Porter the other day... good stuff...has a hint of Kona coffee. If you like chocolate stouts, the Pipeline would be for you..

I have this one sitting in my fridge at home actually... I prefer IPA's however. It will be sampled sometime in the near future. Trying to get the g/f to start drinking beer and using chocolate stouts and coffee bean brewed ones to get her started.
