There is a Hofbrau brewery in Newport KY, that we are lucky to be close to. Its nice to get a fresh brewed German beer every now and then.
:friday: |
That is Ralph Steadmans art on that Old Scratch amber bottle never really noticed that, I have a few of his prints now I have to find the beer.

I am off beer for a couple days after the neighbor had a Keg of Fireman's 4 Saturday night. Talk about a non-productive Sunday.

I just put some (1/6keg) Sam Adams Boston Lager into the kegerator, though I wouldn't say it's my favorite beer.

L, pics of the Shiner glass?
Tonight I had this on tap at the Flying Saucer: http://mesohoppy.dogfish.com/files/midas-touch.png I'd give it atleast an 8/10. One of the sweeter beers I've had with a very pleasant aftertaste. This recipe is the actual oldest-known fermented beverage in the world! It is an ancient Turkish recipe using the original ingredients from the 2700 year old drinking vessels discovered in the tomb of King Midas. Somewhere between wine & mead; this smooth, sweet, yet dry ale will please the Chardonnay of beer drinker alike. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/127/3...ae0888.jpg?v=0 Chris |
Chris -
Just a generic clear glass pint-glass. The noteworthy part was the beer I poured into it... - L |
Had this the other day. Was worried that it was a bit overhyped, but it turned out to be the best IPA Ive had yet.

Makes me sad looking at this thread. I've been trying to keep my alcohol intake very low, just because I have been fighting acne for 10+ years, and have gotten in under control for the last few years. Alcohol of any quantity makes it flare up and it takes a week or two to get it back under control. If it wasn't for that, I would probably be buzzed right now. My beer of the night WOULD be: Abita Purple Haze... but its a Gatorade Rain and an Ambien to put me out for the night. |
A gift from my father. The class six store on base was having a freight sale and at $1.75 for each half liter bottle, he got a case for each of us. I've had it before. It is Krusovice Black. It is smooth and doesn't taste bitter or frankly very dark. Quite pleasant if you are looking for something not too hoppy, but not too light.
And no, I don't know her, but she seemed to be enjoying her beer. It looks darker than it tastes. And it keeps a nice head, but not too creamy. http://engine.koduleht.net/templates..._Beer_50cl.jpg http://lh5.ggpht.com/_RYdGMen_CPY/SE...furt+(309).JPG |
This is what has been in the fridge for the last couple nights. Going to take a while to get through it all.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3071/...4af09106ea.jpg It is much better than you'd think for costco off-brand beer haha. |

I just found out that Krusovice was bought by Heineken. Boooooo!
Press: Heineken in talks to buy drinks group Dutch brewing giant Heineken NV is in talks to buy the Czech Republic’s Drinks Union group, Mlada fronta Dnes reported. Drinks Union produces six brands of beer, including Dacicky and Zlatopramen, as well as spirits such as Stara Myslivecka. Heineken increased its share of the Czech beer market to 8 percent earlier this year when it acquired the brewery Krusovice. |
Old Southern Mint Julep tonight. ala Makers.

Forgot about this thread, here's my brew of the day, or should I say week.
|
Kirkland (Costco) has their own beer? LOL that is great. I love Costco. So it is decent beer? I wonder who brews it for them.
I'm with JayL. New Belgium Brewing FTMFW. I have 6-pack of 1554 Ale in the fridge right now so that is my bière du jour/semaine. Love it. Serve it in a snifter or large red wine glass for the full effect, great bouquet. http://www.newbelgium.com/files/beer...png?1229380498 |
slowly working my way through a local brew. nice and dark for a lager. doesn't remind me of something made in a factory.

Somebody removed my chick enjoying her Krusovice Black. Boo Hoo.
Well here's something you won't find locally. My buddy from Liechtenstein, who's products we sell, brought me a local beer from the Vorarlberg region of Austria which is right across the border from Liechtenstein. He knows I like to try different beers. It is Mohrenbrau Kellerbier. It is darker than a lager and seems to be unfiltered. Kinda spicy actually. Mohrenbrau brewery is in Dornbirn which is in a valley in a pass through the Alps. This area was on the ancient trade route through the Alps and the Brewery was named after some of the exotic people that were common only to the route, the Moors, (or Mohren auf Deutsch) or "black people." So just like today when hair care products are "European Formula" for marketing here and in Europe it is "American or Hollywood Formula" for marketing there, so it was back in the old days. Exotic sells. Since 1834. Notes: Bottom fermented, 5.7% alc., unfiltered, ceramic bottlecap. So tonight I drink "Black People Brewery's Cellar Beer" from Austria. http://www.mohrenbrauerei.at/images/...171/media4.jpg http://www.mohrenbrauerei.at/images/...kellerbier.jpg And credit to my buddy Markus Vetsch for bringing it to me. |
