My DL has always been weak, but last weeks I've been doing heavy ab exercises along with front squats.
Yesterday I went to the gym feeling like shit after sleeping only 3 hours the night before. But as soon as I started lifting my energy came surging. I managed to take my max(308@165lbs) and rep it 2x thinking "how the fuck am I doing this? I came in with no motivation".
Decided to see what I could get away with, got my belt and threw on another 22 lbs, and it flew up. Feels like my core is much tighter than before. Makes me excited for next DL day.

I walk up 17 flights of stairs each day now; I just feel tired.

Recent max test after another 12 week period

455 squat (legal depth)
560 deadlift (legal)
300 bench press (competition legal) Atanas still holding his head in shame.

Current bodyweight is 20lbs under my last meet. Will be competing in 220 class or possibly 198 class late this year.

Also started doing yoga for hip/ankle mobility. Mighty nice.

Those are some really good numbers. And hip mobility can help a lot in the squat.

220 class as in 220lbs?

Yes body weight, 198 is light heavy, 225 is heavy.

Welcome back to reality.

6 weeks out from another USPA powerlifting meet. Openers are close to my last meet's 3rd attempts. Goals are 480-501 squat, anything over 300 on bench and a 580+ deadlift.

I'm also competing two weight classes lower than March; 275 to 220. I'm gonna see my abs again. Yay.

Very nice man. I've never really pushed heavy on squats and dead lifts just because i dont want to risk a back injury. I've seen enough people fuck them selves up to rethink my goals. I do admit though there was a time when i wanted to squat heavy.

Keep form tight and learn your particular leverages. You'll be fine. It's very rare to have an injury from those two, but it certainly does happen way more frequently than benching and curling.

I was scared of them, as well. Especially from having a prior disc issue (bulging/compress discs, thinning nerve columns, degrading disc disease). Heavy training is probably whats keeping me from falling apart. But I do put the brakes on it when I need to.

Join the dark side, 3x88. Squatting/pulling will add so much mass to your overall composition. I make all skinny clients train squat/deads with high frequency for this reason.

Competing in my 3rd legit USPA federation meet May 21st on Ocala.

Goal is 470 squat, 303 bench and 606 deadlift @ 220lb class. From there I'm cutting back down to 198 and going for Nationals.

Start doing chest 2 times a week. First time start with flat, 2nd time start with incline. Cheers.
