I don't understand why you guys think that just because it doesn't have a clock doesn't mean its a sport. I mean hell in this day and age. Chess is a sport. Poker is another "intellectual sport". In fact...my school doesn't have a football team, instead we have a chess team that continually beats Ivy League schools.

Gymnastics is damn competative and certainly ridiculously hard. Gymnasts are probably some of the most capable and strongest athletes. It's judged but it's not as though it is unclear why people win when others don't. Form is important in gymnastics, making sure you have your legs in line, that you completed X attempt. Held for X long. they have real values to the points and it's not arbitrary. Figure skating is obviously a bit less direct scoring points for "energy" and such.

Point remains, d rifting has real values it is based on. It's not arbitrary. Speed, Angle, Apex, Distance.

Its not like this **** only happens in Japan and the US. All of the UK, Australia, Germany, Malaysia, Taiwan. I certainly wish more motorsports were global besides F1 and well..not even WRC.

The source for competitive forms of racing with d rifting in them are many. Whether it's kart racing. Rally racing. Circuit (road) racing. It is a viable driver skill. the "d rift king" Tsuchia raced in JGTC driving a NSX for many years. Even now he knows that his driving skills are nothing compared to the newer generations.

Or how about this. Closer to home. Chelsea Denofa. Youngest D1 licensed driver ever. He's what 19 now? He was a racing driver before he decided to start d rifting. kart racing. Auto-X. Spec Miata. Formula Mazda. In fact the very Miata he d rifts in is from his Spec Miata days. He enjoys d rifting and does it over all of the others because he finds it the most fun. How many of you can really say you've done that much comparison? That you have that many professional race car driver licenses?

Complaints?

*"causes wanna be **** and too much publicity more ricers booo!". how about you whine more... that is never going to change. God drag racing. what the hell 1/4 mile, so dumb cars do more than go in strait lines it just causes ricers and wanna be ****. Hmm..sounds familiar.

**"I've done that **** in the rain (or snow or ice or on jesus jizz)". Great, now if you didn't crap yourself congrats you learned something more about car control. How many people thought "huh, I kinda wanna do that again". I know i did, it's kinda why the sport came about. And just like everything else in this world that is mildly fun, you test the limits on how big, how fast, essentially how fun you can make it.

***"waste of tires booo!" who the **** cares? its not increases prices of tires. it's not your money. If anything its making more tire manufactures actually produce decent tires for cheap and making new tire models.

*****"I prefer Rally" great. thanks for not being helpful. How many places do you guys really have affordable rallies to attend? Now how about cars that you can Rally and drive on the street? You can prattle on as much as you want about Rally cross. I know all about it. I have a friend who rally cross's his AE86, and his daily driver Altima. oh and a friend who rally crosses her RX-7 n/a FC.

Pretty much the truth here^

Like I said before, it's the most fun I've ever had in any motor sport...ever, and have stuck to it for almost 3 years now. The people are all awesome to each other, everyone helps out everyone, the cars are ******* fast, you will never see more unique cars in any other motor sport where you have to abide by class rules, and the models are just ******* hot. How many hot spec Miata models are there? Thought so. I am 90% in it for the culture, 10% in it for the amazing driving experience; nothing can compare. Sure, I love to grip, compare times, the usual repetitive BS...it's fun, but not nearly this fun. Nothing is ever the same; it's always challenging, no matter what your level of experience is. Get out to a ******* event.

I think this really gets to the heart of it. This is the sport for 4chan loving, video game playing, think they're rebelling by buying a mac generation who've finally found a place to express their ADD.

I like ********, it's interesting, but I wonder sometimes if the positives of having it as a recognized form of motorsport outweighs the negative impact it gives others in the "scene". Take RD, for example. The number of decent people there is in the single digits, and the rest are douches and act/post as such.

All dr!fters are "different." That's what's fun about it, because you can do what you want. I have a 302 in an fc...and I don't have to care about any BS regulations. I also don't have to deal with a lot of cockfag ******** that are usually associated with auto-x or spec miata.

Again as a voice of moderation.

I drive HPDE 100% for the driving experience. I would pay the money and happily hit the track completely by myself. If I drove up, hit the track and drove home without saying a word to anyone I'd be fine with that. Sure, I enjoy hanging out and shooting the **** with the guys. That however is not why I'm there. I wouldn't pay that kind of money just to hang or experience "the culture".

I agree ******** must be a kick in the butt. Last session monday it started to rain at the track. Was slick as hell. while everyone else bailed I was hanging it out a little on the slick track with r-comps. Nothing hard core, but sliding cars around is admitedly fun. Fun is good! I don't know that sliding cars around is any more fun than trying to shave seconds off lap times though.

I enjoy golf, foreign travel, great food, the occasional opera, etc. Do I hang with foodies, opera fans, golf fanatics, etc? Hell no. I enjoy the experience for myself, not the "living" it with everyone else.

I think most of the haters here are similarly minded, again, it's not the ******** is the drif-ters. "Culture" is not in the minds of most members here. Cars, driving, building, tuning, improving are. It's not about "living the life". The ******** "culture" just isn't that far from being ricers, posers, wine and cheesers and all those other things that get bashed here. Anytime it's about looking good vs improved performance it's going to get a sideways glance from the majority here.

People for the most part are sheep. You are running with a herd of *******s. Good for you. Have fun. Baaaah. Most of the members here are a little more independently minded.

And, I asked you if you actually do anything with your car, and you failed to answer me

Yep, that's when I had the miata. Speedfed was pretty dope, too bad it went under.
