Took the m00stang to the track today. It was insanely hot/humid, DA 3050

Uncorrected best run was 12.5 @ 114
Corrected it's 12.1 @ 116

About what I expected for completely stock with tune, though it spun the 275's uncontrollably. Had to lift off throttle going into 2nd every.......single......time. Once it spun into 3rd, and I was almost aiming at the wall. Pucker moment for sure.

Hopefully the ownership experience will be done in the next 12 months. We are getting ready to start working on my girl's house to get it ready to put on the market. Hoping it won't take to long to sell, but it's an hour east of Tulsa in a small (pop. ~1500) podunk town by the lake. It is a nice 2000 sq ft, 15 year old home, that sits on 18 acres though.

Once sold she will move in with me to my place down here in OKC. By that point basically all debt from divorce, refurnishing a place and moving 4 times in the last couple of years will be gone except my incredibly small student loan payment that's locked down below 2%, so now real point in trying to pay it off early vs pumping money into paying off the other debt/401k/employee stock purchase.

I'm very seriously considering ordering an Audi RS3, or BMW M2, or something like that. I want something luxurious and fast and more comfortable than a slammed BRZ on 35 series Star Specs for everyday use. I don't see myself getting back into HPDE anymore, as much I love being on track, it's such a huge time/money sink.

My '13 Track Pack car would bark 4th on the street. Of course it had deeper rear gears.

Do you know anyone you could borrow drag radials from? Just for an 11 second pass?

Not really. its no big deal, just a number that's irrelevant on the street. I was more curious in the trap speed and to see if the tune picked up legitimate power over stock, and it definitely did.

New motor (rod knock @ 118K), trans (too many brake boost launches), rear diff (brake boost launches), front cv axles (because bad boots), window switch (500, WTF), 3 stock radios( about 100-150 each, none lasted more than 1 year, now have aftermarket radio in glove box), turbo (no shaft play, wastegate arm wore out and was not sealing the flapper against the housing), bushings and shocks (from miles/use probably). It has had a misfire/hesitation a few times over the years. Once plugs and cleaning throttle body fixed it, once I replaced coils and that didn't fix it. Recently the air intake pipe cracked so had to replace that and some other hoses too. Luckly that fixed the hesitation and it runs great again.

Thanks. I'll buy the silicone one if this one ever fails again. As much of a pain as it is to replace I don't ever wanna do this again. I take for granted how easy the miata is to work on. Congrats on 12s!

So I'm back to thinking I should be reasonable and just buy a new Mustang GT, make a few tasteful mods (i left the previous one stock) and just enjoy driving a nice car that doesn't beat me up all time.

Any idea on the largest square setup you fit under the stock fenders? Who to go to for a tune? Etc.

Basically what I'd like to do would be intake/exhaust/tune. Big fat square wheel/tire setup and lower it a touch but not the equivalent of 800/500 XIDAs on a Miata. But not so soft it's constantly on the bumpstops.

I'm ACTUALLY selling my mustang right now!! It's really sad, because I absolutely LOVE this thing, but we just found out we're expecting twins, and I'll need to get something with 5 seats/4 doors before the end of the year.
Probably back to Subaru I go.

I'm on 275's and plenty of room left to go bigger. Most folks fit 285 easily, and depending on alignment I've seen 295 as well.

Anyways, if anyone is looking for one of the cleanest, most well maintained GT Premiums, shoot me a PM.

Thanks.
Yup, we are definitely getting the Missus a minivan. But for me, I'm thinking wrx/sti, so it's still a fun daily I can tinker with, and take trips to the snow in, and be able to fit the whole family if needed.

Congrats! Have you driven the 2015+ wrx? I was kind of disappointed with the shock feeling, like severely under dampened? Idk, not an expert. But the FA20DIT felt really fun to play with, but shifter was funky. Maybe a short shifter would help.

2015+ WRX was discussed earlier in this thread. I love them, Vlad was not impressed

Congrats Vlad.

@z31maniac What about the Camaro? The mustang is a nice car, but the Camaro is far superior in terms of performance and handling, as long as you're cool with the visibility.

Disclaimer: Prior to the 2016 model year, I preferred the Mustang over the Camaro. That changed with the new 2016+ model which is now considerably lighter and tidier than the Mustang.

I've considered the Camaro as well, I really like the exterior styling, but the interior is a let down. I just don't like any modern GM interiors. And I wouldn't say FAR superior, but it's going to be fun street, so it's not like .8ths of a second at Buttonwillow really matters or whatever. And as far as weight, the SS and GT are within 100lbs of each other. The Camaro is much lighter than the previous gen Camaro after moving to the new ATS-based chassis.

And being the 'tard I am, I'd want the SS 1LE package, but that's really unnecessary on a car that would only see 2-3 HPDE's per year. This is all still at least 6 months out. Before I'd make a move (unless the girlfriend's house sells super quick) or some other anomaly.

I need to look into the Camaro aftermarket some more.

But a BIG thing for me going back to a V8 would be the exhaust note. And for me, Coyote > LS all day every day in the sound department.

That all makes sense, BUT... I'm not really talking about performance figures, I'm talking about driving experience.

I suppose I should specify that I haven't driven a 6-speed manual Camaro SS but I have driven several with the automatic, and I've driven the manual 2016 Mustang GT.

The Mustang definitely has the nicer interior, though I far prefer the Chevy's infotainment system.

But the steering, braking, suspension, etc of the Camaro are just so much more nimble. To me, the car feels 500 lbs lighter than the Mustang.

I used to agree on the exhaust note but the new SS exhaust sounds awesome to me. Coyote still sounds a little smoother, a little better, but the Camaro exhaust note has come a long way.

The 1LE package is a no brainer, really. You get the huge chunky tires and the magnetic dampers and the spiffy diff, and you can get the whole thing for $45k if you start with the 1SS instead of the 2SS.

Have you driven a 2016+ Camaro?

I haven't driven either yet. I owned a '13 Track Pack GT Mustang, so still a stick axle.

More doing initial research at the moment on aftermarket, support, etc. I don't like going to dealers and wasting their, and my, time if I'm not ready to buy something or put a deposit down to order one.

Yeah, it's just the 1LE package is $6500 for something that would rarely be needed for my 14 mile roundtrip commute to work 3-4 days per week.

I literally put maybe 500 miles per month on my BRZ.
