I have driven the 2015 and 2016 wrx's. Stock tune is GARBAGE. Like, I'm used to bad tunes from Subaru, but this was on a whole 'nother level of garbage.
Other than that, it's pretty decent. I do like the stiffer chassis, and the interior is slightly better. Once you do a couple bolt ons and tune though, it's a completely different car altogether. Once you rid it of all the factory tune garbage. Spools instantly, torque everywhere, smooth, a lot of fun for a street car. We'll see, I'm not set on anything in particular at the moment. I might even pick up a Caddy CTS-V if I find a decent deal.
Camaro vs Mustang:
In my opinion, Mustang wins in every category that's not raw performance related. But yeah, it's hard to compete with a car that's about 200lb lighter and 25hp more, as well as more torque everywhere.
If I had to do it all over again, I'd still get the Mustang. Because raw performance aint top priority for me anymore. I'd get another corvette if I didn't need a back seat and wanted a chevy.

Yeah, the Mustang is softer in every way, so for a DD it's more comfortable for sure. Significantly better visibility too.
But honestly the Camaro reminds me of an FRS/BRZ with a ton more power. They feel similar to me.

Yeah I went back and looked at how I would option them, the SS 1LE would probably have a worse stereo than the big Shaker HD in the Mustang, but honestly the stock stereo in the BRZ is absolutely deplorable.
The 1LE ends up only a few thousand more than the GT Premium with a few options......at least MSRP wise. The Ford dealerships around here are selling them for $3000-5500 under MSRP advertised, so I'm sure you could get lower in person with money in your hand.
It would be interesting to see what a Chevy dealer would say if I walked in with a $2k deposit check and said, "I'd like to order a 2017 Camaro SS 1LE, white, whats your best price?"

Willing to drive to Utah? I could find out. lol
We have a 2SS that's marked like $6500 off right now, so yeah those discounts aren't out of the question.
Either way, just make sure to drive the new Camaro, even if it's not a 1LE. You might not like it, but I know which one I'd buy if I were in the market, no question.

^yeah, but not terrible either. Since I've been here (just shy of 2 months) we have sold at least 1 V6, one 2SS manual, one 1SS auto, and I think 2 2SS's with the auto. And a ZL1.
We're certainly past the heyday of hundreds of thousands of units per year in this segment though.

Once the girlfriend gets down here I'll likely start making $1500/month payments on it so at least I won't roll any negative into the next vehicle and still have some cash to put down.

**** neutral safety switches. Tested everything but that in the starter system yesterday when the car decided not to start in the morning for no reason. No crank. No power to the starter, no nothing. Got a new starter. No dice.
Override neutral safety switch and start the car? Oh hi.

Looks like a quick AutoTrader search even shows plenty of 1LEs advertised below MSRP. Hmmmmm.
I keep telling myself I need to wait to go drive one or I know I'll leave with one.

What is the cheapest and easiest way to get a better tune for my '05 OBXT? I've had the stock tune on it for YEARS and it's awful. I have the VAGCOM cable and ROMRaider all set up for logging but I've never done any tuning besides adjusting the awful pedal response a few years ago and never touching it again.

Yeah, but I'd want to put a massive square wheel setup (295s all around is easy, and I think 305 could be done with a perfect width/ET from what I've read), tasteful drop, exhaust. That right there you've already eaten up $4-5k.
I'm sure at that power level you'd need a clutch too. I'm not buying an automatic, even though apparently the new auto's in the Mustang hold stupid power.
