I owned a brand-new BRZ for 6 weeks back in 2015. My test drive consisted of nothing but on-ramps and highway pulls with the most co-operative salesman ever and it was great fun! Too bad I found out it sucks *** around town once I got it back home. That torque dip is horrendous.
I still want to test drive an FRZ with the Jackson Racing rotrex kit and see if that fixes my complaints about it. That would make it a reliable and track-capable DD. That and the JR combo radiator/oil cooler. The FRS prices have been falling dramatically and I get on a research kick every few weeks about them, but then I think about everything else you need to add to them to make it track capable. Brakes, wheels/tires, some sort of harness bar/seats, etc etc...

I'd be lying if I said the mod bug hasn't taken hold already...
Apparently a quality header + tune removes the torque dip by a great margin. I'm pretty happy with my purchase of my frs. Drives like new, smells like new.
At this rate, thoughts of selling the MSM come to mind often during the day lol.

Yep, I told you. The OFT header + OFT + E85 = 30whp and no more torque dip.
I'm starting to contemplate keeping mine (something a bit more financially intelligent regarding cars for once) and adding a header, swapping the coilovers for something more street oriented since I'm not going to track the car ever, and get my 18x9.5 RPF1s refinished and get fresh tires on them.
The car looks goofy as hell on the stock 17x7 wheels with 215/45 vs the big wheels with 255/35 that have been on it the last 2+ years.

I hear you on the suspension & wheels. At this point I just want some springs and 6ULs

It is, so you get the old STi rumble. And there really isn't a big difference in top end power vs a longtube Equal-length header.
I wouldn't bother with just springs and stock dampers (although the RCE springs on stock dampers are well regarded). If it were me I'd just do some street-oriented coilovers like the entry Bilsteins or Tein's or something. If you go too low, you will need adjustable camber arms in the back to dial out some of the camber gained.
These cars stock can fit huge meats on stock fenders. Like a small trim on a rear bumper tab and you can run 265/35/18........unnecessary...........but damn do these cars look great lowered on tires as wide an Mustang/Camaro.

That "rumble" is the sound of lazy engineering and inefficiency
I'm surprised it doesn't seem to affect power negatively, but then this is a 200hp pea shooter, so I guess it doesn't need much in terms of flow.
I'd probably pick up a lightly used set of 17+ OEM strut takeoffs, since they're supposed to be much more comfortable, put some good looking light wheels on there, and call it a day.
The little buggers are sexy, they really don't need much to look good. Replacing the terrible looking stock wheels is 90% of the way there.

Yesterday I watched a guy drive away in and load my mustang onto a transport truck heading to a dealership in SoCal. It looked so sexy and sounded so good. I was sad, I'm gonna miss that sexy beast.
I sincerely hope whoever buys it takes as good care of it as I did. It is virtually flawless inside and out. Sometimes I feel like keeping my cars so clean and well maintained is a waste, since I go through them so fast, and other people get to enjoy all my hard work.

Good write up here from Mike at Counter-Space Garage, who seems to be one of the few sources of quality information on the ft86 forum: Tein Flex Z opinion - Scion FR-S Forum Subaru BRZ Forum Toyota 86 GT 86 Forum AS1 Forum - FT86CLUB
This is what I will most likely do, with a set of rear LCAs, but I worry about how these will hold up through salty winters - which makes me want to do a non-adjustable Bilstein B6/B8 with springs, camber bolts, and LCAs but this ends up just as expensive and with no adjust-ability.
OFT, Header, and Lightweight better looking wheels with decent tires seem like a better use of money. Been watching a used set of silver Advan RGs on Ebay... but the cheap options from Konig or a nice set of 6ULs/TSW/Storms/RFP1 would all look good. Decisions are hard.
