Oh yeah, I mean "4 seater" as in that once in a blue moon that I need to take my wife and son somewhere, we can still do it

The amount of room back there is, kinda cute hehe

Hey bros, how strict are the SOHC ej253 timing belt service intervals?

Might be picking up a 2007 2.5i wagon next week up in PA. Its right about at 105k mi and the mark to replace is 105k I believe. Would you feel fine driving one of these cars 500mi? Maybe after a brief inspection of the belt condition? I'd like to do it myself or take it to a great subaru shop down here if so.

Normally the timing belt interval is the same as the head gasket interval. ;)

I changed the oil in the WRX this weekend, yay!

Sometimes is nice to have a car where all you have to do is change the oil ;)

Enginerd 11-23-2015 10:14 PM

I'm looking to buy a pre-owned Subaru, but it seems that every one I see has a white or gray interior.

sometimes its nice to own a car with a dipstick...

18psi 11-24-2015 09:03 AM

the mb doesn't even have one, huh

just changed the oil on mine this weekend too.

switched back to pump gas for those 36* mornings these couple months. car is so much slower at 350whp I'm almost bored now :giggle:

Braineack 11-24-2015 09:13 AM

Apparently not. I never changed it once I got it, and I was curious the other day what it was looking like...

18psi 11-24-2015 09:16 AM

Pretty dumb IMO. What if the sensor goes bad? Whoops, time to bring it in for a new engine. lol

Braineack 11-24-2015 09:19 AM

n/m manual shows there's one, but it wasn't obvious. In fact i swear I looked in the spot the manual is suggesting.

18psi 11-24-2015 09:30 AM

A co-worker has a 7 series and it relies on sensors. She asked me to check her oil level cause she has a leaking oil pan gasket. Nope. lol

And then she paid 2800 to replace gasket cause apparently you have to remove engine to do it.

ROR

This shit again. Some of you might recall the exact same thing last December. Oreilly China coil already went bad in less than 12 months and 10k. Free replacements for life so meh.

Enginerd 12-02-2015 08:35 AM

Lifetime warranties & free replacements for life: shit parts in which manufacturer hopes you sell the car before you make a claim.

TurboTim 12-02-2015 08:45 AM

I used chingpow lifetime replacement rear hubs on my subaru. I went thru 3 on each side before buying Timken? Moog? I forget. But one of the chinese bearings have survived so I still have it's replacement in my closet. I was able to change the rear hub out in 15 minutes the last time I did it. The previous hub only lasted a month so the tool selection and procedure was fresh on my mind.

Timken or FAG was all we used in the BMW crowd.

I don't know about THAT cold, because I'm too lazy to go re-read the threads, but I know the OFT guys with the BRZ have had luck changing a few tables in the E85 tunes to get them to start in the cold weather.

I probably won't run E85 again until the next oil change since I just took into Subaru at the 11k mark for one of my free ones. So it has whatever the stock syn is that I'm not sure is happy with E85 for 5-6k street miles.

18psi 12-02-2015 09:17 AM

Getting it to start is no prob, but it really doesn't like it, and you have to just hose down the cylinders with the stuff to get it to fire quickly.

I don't really like that because IMO it puts a lot of the fuel into the oil. (at least theoretically, I've not done a blackstone test yet).

I'm considering selling this car for a 15+ mustang gt or 16+ camaro ss. Tell me how crazy I am?

z31maniac 12-02-2015 12:00 PM

Not at all. Of course for me, Mustang > Camaro all day. And I still want a boost buggy because I've never owned one. But with STi's reputation for blowing motors (I'm sure it's guys trying to self-tune that don't know what they are doing but still even the '11-'12 Coyote motors lost a lot of engines due to the number 8 cylinder even with reputable tuners), would make me nervous.

Buy a GT350 and win at life?

I'm going to try to ditch the BRZ next year (and hopefully get a Focus RS) and sell enough my possessions that I could fit everything I own (sans a bed/TV) in the car and be able to move anywhere.

Braineack 12-02-2015 12:03 PM

youd only be crazy if you bought the camaro.

18psi 12-02-2015 12:17 PM

so lots of 11-12 coyotes blew up? tell me more about this
