Bah, the nether regions are surprisingly insensitive to cold water (from CA winters). And my rear entrance has a sign "exit only" thankyouverymuch. Amazon reviewers from colder states report that the cold-water-only $70 version is fine if the cold water pipe supply runs through inside walls.

As for the need for TP - you only need it to *dab* the area dry, because the area will be very clean. Or if you're lazy, you shake your booty like a dog shaking itself dry then stand up.

Yes it will be cleaner than any TP-only job.
It's not only cleaner, but also more comfy (TP is abrasive in comparison, even the pricey Charmin extra-velvety-3-ply type).
And you obviously go through a *lot* less TP.

It also saves time. A couple of seconds of blasting and moving your bunghole around to get it all, takes a lot less time than wiping 2/3/4 times.

I don't get the Euro style fancy it's-an-extra-toilet-bowl bidets, when a strong blast in the main toilet works great.

That bidets and wagons haven't really gained popularity in the USA, are some of life's great mysteries.

Hm. Like I said, I've never tried the cold-only versions.

A funny thing about toilet paper:

I hate the "ultra soft / quilted / etc" stuff. It's weaksauce, and too little of it fits on a roll. I actually prefer the cheap, single-ply store brand stuff that's basically one step up from prison and airport-grade TP. I find that I use much less of it, and that it is far less likely to tear or perforate if I am working on a particularly insidious situation (eg: if I've recently eaten something abnormally greasy.)

They're the kind I grew up with as a kid, so really the only thing I know. Never tried the Japanese "in-bowl" style, it seems to me that they'd tend to be positioned in such a way that I'd hit them with the outbound load.

You dudes owe it to yourselves to try the Blue Bidet from Amazon.

It's out of the way of outbound loads, unless you spray after a Mexican lunch. Then you use the "self clean" position on the operating ****.

Usually its the ice cold water that flows to the toilet bowl and these connect to that supply.

I believe Steve McGrew summed up my opinions on toilet paper in one of his skits. "I will eat top ramen noodles every night for the rest of my life, as long as I can wipe my *** with the fluffy stuff."

Fluffy stuff + baby wipes FTW.
