I got it off ebay for $8150. He's replaced the clutch and fixed the headlights since posting that CL ad.

Yehaw!

Not a bad price at 8k. PLEASE put a new hood on it and reroute the intake.

I will admit that although I don't like some of the parts on the car, your buy in for a running LS1 miata was about a 1/3rd of the price it is building it yourself...... And that makes me envious :)

I'm looking at it as a big box of parts from which I can build a V8 Miata. It just so happens that I'll be able to drive the box of parts around a bit while I find a nice body/interior to put them in. My rough estimate is that it would cost me $10K to buy all the stuff so coming in at $2K less than that with a lot of the work done (getting the correct length drive shaft, having the headers already welded up, etc) is pretty cool.

AWESOME!

Good price on a decent setup. Looks like a fun swap project. Saved money, no waiting, all in a convenient package with a living diagram of where shit goes...but you still get to do it YOUR way.

Have fun.

Yeah, I hope the gamble pays off. I've passed up a few V8s because they were too rough. This one seems like a little massaging will get it (well, the new setup) to where it needs to be. I'll probably drive the car for a year or so before I completely disassemble it. I really wanted to do it all myself but it still won't be an easy road ahead. I think I'll be able to call it "my project" when I finish.

Luckily he didn't buy the worst part of the bf swap kit... the rear end setup. If you add up the little stuff, you will probably gain another 2-3k on top of that 10k figure pretty easily. I can't wait to watch the progress on it :)

I like the fact that you spent your 1,000th post talking about my new car <G>.

Yeah, if you know me, I'll definitely have a few pictures and web pages devoted to the build. Hell, I've got 126 pictures devoted just to my Geo Metro engine rebuild on my web page!

Nice. I think I have 30 years before I will be debt free. Little to no credit card debt but to many student loans and still no house.

Joseph B 11-10-2010 07:56 AM

I have a total of 36k in debt, including the student loans I've taken out for my masters degree. This amount will increase significantly when my wife and I buy a home next year. However, her entire salary will go to the mortgage once she finishes college and starts working.

Just got my property tax notice in the mail the other day....that SUCKED. Our first year of property tax was rolled into the closing cost so it was "hidden" last year. Not this year.

I understand the purpose of property taxes, but it sure does piss me off that regardless of who "owns" the property (me or the bank), the state can just take it away unless I continue to pay them off every year for the right to not have my property seized.

And with the extended definition of emminent domain that has gotten so popular these days, how comforting it is to know that even if you pay that ransom diligently every year, the government can STILL seize your property so that a developer can put a strip mall there or something.

y8s 11-10-2010 11:56 AM

Well if america didn't like strip malls, that would never happen.

It's for the general welfare.

Joseph B 11-10-2010 12:09 PM

I can't comprehend property taxes, it's a tax to live. Food and clothing are tax exempt in most states, why not exempt property tax? I'm scared to death that Ill work my entire life, retire, and be taxed out of my home..

chricto 11-10-2010 12:13 PM

Congrats on being debt free. I'll hopefully be joining the party in Jan-Feb. Then comes the engagement ring . Then I'll be in debt for life.

In Soviet Russia, the country professed dedication to “the common good.”

What happened to the American concept of allowing every man to be free to work for the greatest good he can achieve for himself?!!?!

Sounds to me like you must hate minorities and poor people.

neogenesis2004 11-10-2010 12:35 PM

Food an clothing are tax exempt in most states?

Also, thread title should be changed to "Everyone can kiss my ass! I'm in debt."
