Default Forza 2 @ 1080P = the win

So, I had pretty much decided on the 360 because it has more games right now that I want to play, and my awesome wife surprised me by getting it for my birthday this weekend

She got the Pro package or whatever for $350 that comes with Forza 2 and some Marvel comics game. And damned if Forza 2 doesn't look just plain awesome at 1080P (over HDMI) on my 1080P lcd :gay:

I have no doubt that the guys at Polyphony will be able to make GT5 look even better in the eye-candy department, however, I got hooked on Forza a couple years ago, back when it made GT4's sound engine, lack of damage modeling and weak tire/friction physics modeling look like a joke.

It'll never have as many cars or look quite as polished as the GT series, but I'll trade that for what I feel is superior online play, customizations, tire/friction and damage modeling. Oh, and the Turn 10 studios/Microsoft team never has been able to get quite as exciting camera work in the replays as the GT games.

My roommate got that same xbox package and just picked up a 37" lcd flat panel, so I get to play forza 2 at 1080i when he's not playing halo 3.

Is this an Elite version of the Xbox or the older one?

Nope it's not the elite. I've got the Elite. It was 450$ and comes with an HDMI cable and 120gb hdd. Go out and buy the Microsoft force feedback steering wheel! It's amazing!

Edit: oh well

i love the replays in GT, especially when i T-bone cars going in to the first turn instead of braking

Hehe. Nothing quite like Opponent Assisted Turning.

No, I haven't, but the Project Gotham series has always been about hitting that narrow road between full-on-arcade-action and full-on-sim-racer.

They're fun, they have gorgeous graphics, but I prefer my racers to have more "sim."
