dentist
Went to the dentist yesterday.
my wallet came home much thinner.
It makes me sad how thoese without insurance really get screwed when it comes to medical care because I know I would not be able to afford the pre-insurance price.

Medical insurance is a must have. I understand that now.
Anyone who thinks insurance is too expensive to be worthwhile, I can send you my medical bills from the last 8 months. They've had to pay out $100k+; I have a $1000 deductible and pay $130/month.

Guys, I was once "invincible" like you. I hadn't seen a doctor in years, before I got hurt. All it takes is one little accident. Medical costs are amazingly high.
Magna, I know you ride. My injuries were caused by a not at fault motorcycle accident. $100k+ in expenses within the past year, no kidding.
Here, I'll break it down a little:
Outpatient surgery (meaning you go home right after):
Hospital Charge $37k
Surgeon's Fee $2k
Anasthesologists's Fee $5k
Total: $44k
That was what it cost to repair my leg/knee/acl
That's just the cost of the surgery, and does not include medical care before & after, blood tests, x rays, CT scans, MRIs, supplies like crutches and braces (one acl brace is $500, I think I have 4 different braces now), medicine, nor physical therapy.

True this is why i have 60K pip only costs 50 bucks every 6 months. And anything that happens at work is covered by workmans comp so. I am not totally in the wind but still cant justifiy the expense. My last crash i got pretty rashed up didnt even use my pip and still came out with 150 bucks including the antibiotic becouse i thought i was geting infected cost for someone to tell me i could have antibiotic gauze iodine etc. still cheaper than the crap from work. Invincible i am not but far from stupid so i try to stay out of bad situations but **** happens.

I am very healthy, and work out. But even doing just that you never know. Say i've hurt my ankle pretty bad running before when I was in college (aka under parents insurance).
dr visit,
hospital
x-rays
crutches
etc. $$$$ adds up.

Indeed. I'm 29, still healthy, invincible, etc. In March I wrecked a motorcycle. Spent four days in the hospital (no surgery) and the total tab, including ambulance transport, radiology, etc was around $28k.
Fortunately I have decent health coverage through work so I was only about $1k out of pocket, but that's still astounding...

The average can be anywhere from 100-500 a month. My dad pays nothing for his now before he paid 30 bucks gotta love dow corning. My work wanted 25 bucks a week as the only option this is on the low end but still not cheep enough to be attractive to me. I have known of people who pay 500+ in health insurance alone.
