Sure..
Pasta dishes are usually prepared with olive oil or cream.. I prefer cream, it's richer, and the cream enhances the flavors. You can use heavy cream. Half and half will definitely do in a pinch.

I figure if I just lay the basics down, one can extrapolate and improvise to their heart's content, so here we go:

You can use any sort of pasta. While fettuccine has more of a presence, linguine blends better with the dish. Angel hair, on he other hand, is pretty delicate.

For the pasta part, just boil enough water - add salt and a few tablespoons worth of olive oil in the water first - and proceed with the pasta, following package directions. Just make sure you do not start it too soon, so it does not sit in the colander too long.

As far as the main ingredients go, you can use chicken like I did in those pictures, it could be a bunch of vegetables like a pasta primevera (which means spring, btw), or seafood.

I like using salmon, halibut, prawns and scallops. Just a little bit of each (thrown together) goes a long way.

Anyway.. Saute the "main ingredients" on high heat with butter and garlic. A wok works best. Add seasoning to your liking. I like using cayenne pepper, for example. Coarse ground peppers go well, so does oregano. Just before you are done, when the heat is at its highest, add some white wine. I keep a cheap bottle of white zinfandel, just for that. The bottle of Dom Perignon in the pics was a leftover, I just did not want it to go to waste.
Once the wine and everything else starts bubbling, dump the cream in there. Stir, and do not let it overcook, not more than a minute or so..
Grab the pasta you have drained, and fold it into the wok, tossing everything gently. The heat should be off then, and the pan will have enough residual heat, so do not worry.

After tossing it, give it a couple minutes in the pan for the cream to set a little.
Then, get a large enough service platter, and transfer everything. You can use capers like I did for a twist..

----

You can try it with snow peas, broccoli, finely sliced carrots, mushrooms and bamboo shoots, artichoke hearts.. Use your imagination.
If you use use seafood, do not overcook it. That would be bad.

Enjoy.

Thats just because your ugly fatass makes a mess of things everywhere you eat, as for me, I dont give a flying ----.

pusha 02-25-2012 05:48 PM

nah bro, I don't make a mess. I'm a clean eater. I just don't like the idea of eating in bed, other things happen there. Perhaps bringing whipped cream into the bedroom and the utter disgust I had with the end result really did it for me. Never use whipped cream in anything sexual, the residue is disgusting.

y8s 04-10-2012 02:43 PM

This month I'm taking a break from refined carbs and most gratuitous carbs in general. No flour or sugar. No added sugar where I can eliminate it. And to a degree, no or limited single-ingredient carbs like potatoes, rice, grains. I'm allowing a reasonable amount of starchy root vegetables because of their nutrient-to-carb ratio (beets, sweet potato, etc). Fruits are largely unlimited but I tend to eat mostly apples and bananas.

It's been about 10 days and I've made exceptions to the effect of:
1 6" flour tortilla
2 5" sprouted corn tortillas
1 hamburger bun
about a teaspoon of sugar total (for when the work coffee is old)
2 flavored yogurts with sugar added I didn't want to waste
2 french fries. that's two fries, not two orders.
whatever is in my protein bars (9g "sugars" carbs per bar?)

otherwise, pretty much only via vegetables or condiments or other places they aren't obvious.

I have lost about between 2 and 4 lbs (keep in mind I'm still eating a lot otherwise and going to the gym) so that's progress I guess? I'm not looking to get tiny, just looking to drop body fat %. So in theory if I've been keeping up the gym and protein then most of that weight lost is fat.

But this is the EATING LIKE A KING thread.

And sometimes it's hard to find good lunches at restaurants that aren't all cheapy carb bombs. And then I found this gorgeous beast:

nice work, y8s. I'm about to embark on 30 days of pure paleo (or, at least as pure as i can muster). kind of looking forward to it, as i am probably 70% paleo now, and am curious how much of a difference I'll see with getting closer to full retard.

I just had a ------- boss Mahi Mahi sandwich from this 24 hour place in downtown Birmingham. ------- incredible fish by itself, thick fillets grilled and seasoned to perfection, then put on a giant sesame bun with lettuce, onion and tomato with a sauce which is pretty much thousand island. Side of cheese fries, mmm. Ultimate 3am meal. Apparently me and my friend got there just in time to mingle with the gays and transgenders/cross dressers. I think there was some sort of party somewhere last night or something. 20 or 30 of them. We actually didn't realize until we had stood in line for like 5 minutes, then looked around and it dawned on us at the same time.

Do it! So worth it. If you can, cut out modified vegetable oils (canola, safflower, sunflower, etc) and replace with coconut oil, animal lards, butter or ghee. Cut soy too, that stuff makes you not a man.

I've been looking forward to my Friday lunch all week. Get to eat some kick ass Irish Nachos, which is basically nacho toppings (really good, fresh ones) on top of crispy shoestring fries. Very few foods I like more than cheese fries, or nachos. Combine them, and you have a winner.

triple88a 05-11-2012 04:41 PM

Man that's finger food. :P My average meal consists of 2 chicken breasts and 2-3 boiled potatoes.. 4-5 meals a day.

NA6C-Guy 05-11-2012 05:09 PM

My average daily meal has been two big ass protein shakes and a clif bar, maybe a little extra meat for a snack at some point and ~100oz of water. Cutting phase in progress, down 22 pounds from two months ago.

As far as i've found from articles the human body can digest about 50 grams of protein per meal. In other words anything over 50 gets flushed down the toilet so i keep my protein shakes around 40-50 grams (2 scoops).

Yeah. I've read about that somewhere too. I normally keep it around 35-40g per shake. I'm just trying to keep decent protein in my diet while I'm cutting to hopefully avoid too much muscle loss like I had last time I lost weight. This time thankfully I'm only having to cut about 35lbs, so I'm almost there. Once I start building back up, I'll increase my protein and intake more, more often (pre workout and post). Not trying to get huge though, just making it easier to put on the muscle I want.

Holy ---- me backwards! I just ate the most incredible meal ever. Nice little Japanese and Korean BBQ place. Super hot Korean and Japanese waitresses, little grill in the table, and one of the hot waitresses to cook for you. I had THE best piece of beef I have ever had. I knew it was going to be good when it came out thinly sliced with the most impressive color and marble I have ever seen. All of the sides were also exceptionally good. To top it all off, I had the best sushi I have ever had, and I am a sushi fiend. In retrospect, I should have gotten the Guinness that I was admiring in the picture next to my table.

------- HAPPY!

Just ate some of my favorite chicken that we made yesterday.

For less than $10 worth of chicken and a handful of other ingredients I'll have lunch for a few days.

Crockpot Jerk Chicken

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1338312396
  • 1 large onion, cut into 8 pieces
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger or 1 tablespoon minced crystallized ginger
  • 1/2 to 1 habanero pepper, seeded, deveined and finely minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 2 tablespoons dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons red wine or balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed and minced
  • 3-4 pounds chicken

Combine onion and ginger in a food processor; process until finely chopped. Add remaining ingredients, except chicken, and pulse until well blended.

I usually put some sauce in the bottom, then start layering the chicken while adding sauce between each layer. Cover, set on low and cook for 6-8 hours.

We've done it a few different ways substituting different peppers and sometimes its so hot it burns my mouth while other times its very mild.

Great ------- recipe though! Try it!

pusha 05-29-2012 01:58 PM

which peppers to make it mild?
